The 2003–04 Karnataka State Film Awards were presented by Government of Karnataka to felicitate the best of Kannada Cinema Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. Karnataka government increases the prize money from the existing Rs.20000 to Rs.1 lakh and for the rest of the categories it has been hiked to Rs.50000. Dharam Singh
Dharam Narayan Singh (25 December 1936 – 27 July 2017) was an Indian senior congress politician who served as the 17th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 28 May 2004 to 28 January 2006 and Member of the Lok Sabha from Bidar Lok Sabha constituency, in 15th Lok Sabha from 2009 to 2014. He was the 18th President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee and he was the nine-term Member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from Jevaragi constituency. Early life and family Dharam Singh was born in Nelogi village of Jevargi taluk (in Kalaburagi district of the Karnataka). He was from a Kannada Rajput family, who are minority community in Karnataka. Lifetime Contribution To Kannada Cinema Award
The Dr. Vishnuvardhan Award, instituted in 2011 for the 2008–09 Karnataka State Film Awards is an award given by the government of Karnataka to long-serving film personalities in Kannada cinema. The award previously called Lifetime Contribution to Kannada Cinema Award, was named Dr. Vishnuvardhan Award in honour of Vishnuvardhan, one of Kannada cinema's actors, after his demise in 2009. The award carries a purse of 200,000 and a gold-plated plaque. Baraguru Ramachandrappa
Baraguru Ramachandrappa (born 18 October 1947) is an Indian essayist, lyricist, screenwriter, film director, socialist, writer, novelist, predominantly works in Kannada language and President of the Textbook Revision Committee, in Karnataka Text Books Society (''KTBS'') from May 2015. In 2008, he was given an honorary doctorate by the Kuvempu University and Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, Karnataka. Ramachandrappa won the National Film Award for Best Lyrics in 2002 for "Baruthe Ve Nav Baruthe Ve" in the film ''Thaayi'' and was given the Pampa Award in 2011 by the Government of Karnataka for his contribution to Kannada literature. ''Shanti'' ( en, Peace) is an Indian Kannada language film directed by Baraguru Ramachandrappa. The film features only a single actor (Bhavana) and hence has found an entry in the Guinness World Records in the category "Fewest actors in a narrative film". Theme Baraguru Ramachandrappa decided to direct this film to portray different faces of ''peace'' by juxtaposing symbolism and monologues. The main theme of the film is to explore the various ways to fight terrorism without any compromise with the human values promoted by the United Nations. The UN was used as a vital aspect in the film since Baragur feels that it is a world body that has created two contradicting influences of war and peace. Parvathamma Rajkumar
Dr.Parvathamma Rajkumar (6 December 1939 – 31 May 2017) was an Indian film producer and distributor. She was the wife of veteran Kannada actor Dr. Rajkumar. She produced successful films featuring Rajkumar and their sons Shiva Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar under the production house named "Poornima Enterprises". Actresses who found fame in her productions include Malashri, Prema, Rakshita, Sudha Rani and Ramya. She was awarded a doctorate from Bangalore University.
