The 2003–04 season of the Belgian First Division was held between 8 August 2003 and 15 May 2004. Sporting Anderlecht became champions on 24 April 2004. Promoted teams These teams were promoted from the second division at the start of the season: *Cercle Brugge K.S.V. (second division champions) * K. Belgian First Division
The Belgian Pro League,(officially the Jupiler Pro League due to sponsorship reasons with Jupiler), is the top league competition for association football clubs in Belgium. Contested by 18 clubs since the 2020–21 season and reduced to 16 teams from the 2023–24 season onwards, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Challenger Pro League. Seasons run from early August to late April, with teams playing 34 matches each in the regular season, and then entering Play-offs I (also known as the ''Championship Playoff'', ''title playoffs'' or ''Champions' play-offs'') or Play-offs II (also known as the ''Europa League playoff'' or ''Europe play-offs'') according to their position in the regular season. Cédric Roussel (born 6 January 1978) is a Belgian former professional footballer who played as a forward. Career Early career In 1997, Roussel took part in the FIFA World Youth Championship. In the season that followed the tournament, he was promoted to the Gent senior team. Coventry City Roussel signed a season-long loan deal for Premier League club Coventry City on 12 October 1999. He made his debut on 16 October, during the 4–1 win over Newcastle United, coming on as a late substitute for Gary McAllister. On 22 November 1999 he scored his first goal for the club, a header against Aston Villa at Highfield Road. Andrés Augusto Mendoza Acevedo (born April 26, 1978 in Chincha Alta), known as Andrés Mendoza, is a Peruvian former footballer. Club career Mendoza started playing professionally with Sporting Cristal, which he helped become national champion in his first season. Subsequently, he represented a myriad of teams, in Belgium, Ukraine, Russia, Romania and France. Gert Verheyen
Gert Verheyen (; born 20 September 1970) is a Belgian retired footballer and manager, who was last in charge of Oostende. In a 20-year professional career, he was mainly associated with Anderlecht and Club Brugge (especially the latter), scoring over 200 official goals for both clubs combined; he was known to have rather few technical skills, relying on a hard-working approach. Eka Basunga Lokonda "Émile" Mpenza (born 4 July 1978) is a Belgian former footballer who played as a striker. He has been capped at international level by Belgium. Koninklijke Beerschot Antwerpen Club (), simply known as Beerschot AC, was a Belgian football club based in southern Antwerp. Beerschot played in the Belgian Pro League from 1999–2000 (as Germinal Beerschot) until 2012–13, when they were relegated not only through their league position, but also lost their professional licence through financial issues, being officially declared bankrupt on 21 May 2013 – one week after the season had ended.
