2003–04 AFC Bournemouth Season
The 2003-04 AFC Bournemouth season was the club's first season back in the English Second Division following promotion the previous year. During the 2003–04 English football season, Bournemouth participated in Division Two, the LDV Vans Trophy, the FA Cup, and the Football League Cup. Bournemouth finished 9th in Division Two and were eliminated from the FA Cup in the Second Round. Both the LDV Vans Trophy and League Cup were exited in the First Round. James Hayter scored the fastest league hattrick of all time when he scored three goals in 140 seconds during a 6–0 win over Wrexham. AFC Bournemouth
AFC Bournemouth () is a professional association football club based in Kings Park, Boscombe, a suburb of Bournemouth, Dorset, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the highest division of English club football. Formed in 1899 as Boscombe, the club adopted their current name in 1971. Nicknamed "The Cherries", Bournemouth have played their home games at Dean Court since 1910. Their home colours are red and black striped shirts, with black shorts and socks, inspired by that of Italian club A.C. Milan. The club competed in regional football leagues before going up from the Hampshire League to the Southern League in 1920. Stephen Purches
Stephen Robert Purches (born 14 January 1980 in Ilford, England) is an English retired footballer who played mostly for AFC Bournemouth over two spells. He also made over 100 appearances for Leyton Orient. When he retired from football he became the development coach then progressing to first team coach in 2017 at Bournemouth. Playing career Purches was a defender who could play at centre back, midfield or full back on either side. He was previously a trainee at West Ham United but left in 2000 after failing to make a single appearance for the first team. He joined AFC Bournemouth where he spent seven years and missed only three league games in his time at the club. In summer 2007, he rejected a new contract at Bournemouth and left on a free transfer to join Leyton Orient. Alan Connell
Alan John Connell (born 5 February 1983) is an English former professional footballer and current youth team coach at AFC Bournemouth. As a player, he was a striker who played between 2001 and 2016. Connell came through the youth academy at Tottenham Hotspur but received his first professional contract from Ipswich Town, despite this he failed to make an appearance and joined AFC Bournemouth in 2002 where despite making over 50 league appearances he was largely used as a back-up striker. This prompted him to move to Torquay United in 2005 after three years with Bournemouth. A year later he moved on again to Hereford United before re-signing for Bournemouth in 2008. James Coutts (footballer)
James Ryan Coutts (born 15 April 1987) is an English footballer and manager who was most recently a player-coach at National Premier Leagues Victoria 2 side North Geelong Warriors FC. Career Coutts started his career at AFC Bournemouth and spent time on loan at Grays Athletic and Weymouth. He signed for Weymouth after being released by Bournemouth in 2007. He left Weymouth after they were relegated to the Conference South in May 2009 at the end of the 2008–09 season. Coutt's returned to Weymouth on loan from AFC Totton in December 2011. He returned to his parent club at the end of January. Coutts signed for Conference South leaders Newport County on 4 December 2009, before his release on 1 January 2010. Gareth John Stewart (born 3 February 1980) is an English footballer who is a coach for AFC Bournemouth as a first-team goalkeeping coach. Stewart started his professional career with Blackburn Rovers in 1997 representing England various times at a young age, but left for AFC Bournemouth in 1999 having never made an appearance for Blackburn. He established himself as Bournemouth's number one goalkeeper during the 2000–01 season, only to be dislodged during the 2002–03 season. Garreth O'Connor (born 10 November 1978, in Dublin) is an Irish former Association football, footballer. He started out playing for Bannow Celtic in Dublin where he soon caught the attention of Belvedere F.C., Belvedere. Wade Patrick Elliott (born 14 December 1978) is an English former professional footballer who is currently head coach of EFL League One club Cheltenham Town. He played mainly as a right midfielder but could also play as a central midfielder. Elliott began playing football as a youth player for Southampton before joining non-league Bashley. Steven Mark Fletcher (born 26 July 1972) is an English retired footballer who played as a forward for AFC Bournemouth, where he holds the club record for appearances and is currently a first team coach for the Premier League side. Fletcher began his career at Hartlepool United and made his first team debut in 1990. Brian Benjamin Stock (born 24 December 1981) is a former professional footballer who played as a midfielder and was most recently the manager of Weymouth. Born in England, Stock represented Wales at international level. Club career AFC Bournemouth Stock began his professional career at AFC Bournemouth, making his league debut on 22 January 2000 against Colchester United. Carl Neil Fletcher (born 7 April 1980) is a former professional football player and manager, who most recently was head coach at Leyton Orient. As a midfielder Fletcher represented Wales at senior international level for five years, scoring one goal in 36 appearances. Having made his professional debut for AFC Bournemouth in 1998, Fletcher went on to play for West Ham United, Watford, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Plymouth Argyle, making 414 appearances in league competition and scoring 34 goals.
