2003 Women's County Championship
The 2003 Women's County One-Day Championship was the 7th cricket Women's County Championship season. It took place in July and saw 21 county teams compete in a series of divisions. Sussex Women won the County Championship as winners of the top division, achieving their first Championship title. Competition format Teams played matches within a series of divisions with the winners of the top division being crowned County Champions. Matches were played using a one day format with 50 overs per side. The championship works on a points system with positions within the divisions being based on the total points. Points were awarded as follows: Win: 12 points. Tie: 6 points. Loss: Bonus points. No Result: 11 points. Abandoned: 11 points. Up to five batting and five bowling points per side were also available. Somerset Women Cricket Team
The Somerset Women cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English ceremonial county of Somerset. They play their home games at various grounds across Somerset, most often in Taunton, and are captained by Sophie Luff. Somerset consistently competed in either Division 1 or Division 2 of the Women's County Championship, and won Division 2 of the Women's Twenty20 Cup in 2019. In 2021, they won the West Midlands Group of the Twenty20 Cup. They are partnered with the regional team Western Storm. Not Out
In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. Arran Brindle
Arran Brindle (; born 23 November 1981) is an English former cricketer who played as an all-rounder. She was a right-handed batter and right-arm medium bowler. She appeared in 11 Test matches, 88 One Day Internationals and 35 Twenty20 Internationals for England between 1999 and 2014. She played county cricket for Lancashire and Sussex, and played in the Women's Cricket Super League for the Southern Vipers. Early life Brindle was born on 23 November 1981 in Steeton, West Yorkshire. After completing her A-Levels in 2000, Brindle studied Sports Science at the University of Sheffield. Domestic career Brindle began playing cricket against boys at under 12 level in Lancashire and also played club cricket in the Lincolnshire Men's Premier League for Louth CC. Melanie Jones (born 11 August 1972, Barnstaple, Devon, England) is an English-born Australian cricket commentator and former cricketer who represented Australia women's national cricket team. Early life Jones was born in England and moved with her mother to Melbourne, Australia when she was three months old. Her father, a West Indian, stayed back in England and she did not meet him until the age of 16. However, he had a big influence on her early life, particularly in attracting her to cricket. She was introduced to cricket by her high school geography teacher (the father of Australian Test player Peter Handscomb). The Wiltshire Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Wiltshire. They play their home games at various grounds across the county and are captained by Isla Thomson. The Norfolk Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Norfolk. They play their home games at various grounds across the county, and are captained by Ellie Stanley. The Durham Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Durham. They played their home games at various grounds across the county, including Green Lane Cricket Ground, Durham, County Durham and Park Drive, Hartlepool.
