Superettan
Superettan (; meaning the super first (division)) is an association football league and the second highest league in the league system of Swedish men's football. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Allsvenskan and Division 1. Seasons run from April to October, with teams playing 30 matches each, totalling 240 matches in the season. The league was created in 2000. The second tier of Swedish football had previously consisted of a varying number of regionalized leagues operating under the Division 2 (1924–1986) and Division 1 (1987–1999) names. Competition format There are 16 clubs in Superettan. During the course of a season (starting in April and ending in October) each club plays the other twice, once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents, for a total of 30 games. Assyriska Fotbollsföreningen, also known simply as Assyriska FF, is a Swedish football club based in Södertälje, Stockholm County. The club, formed in 1974 by Assyrian immigrants, has advanced through the league system and is currently playing in the fourth highest Swedish league, Division 2. They played in the highest Swedish football league Allsvenskan in 2005 where their games were broadcast in over 80 countries. The club has also played a final in Svenska Cupen, which was lost against IF Elfsborg in 2003. Assyriska is often viewed as a substitute national team by the Assyrian people. The club has a fan base from all over the world and has also their own pop song which is called "My Assyrian team – the team of my dream". Daniel Freire Mendes, (, born 18 January 1981 in São Paulo) is a retired Brazilian football player who started his career in Brazil back in 1999 with only 18 years of age, moved in 2014 to U.S to play for Minnesota United FC, after a long career in the Allsvenskan, the Swedish top league. Career He has previously played for Kalmar FF , AIK and Degerfors IF. Mendes scored Allsvenskan's fastest goal in history after only 6 seconds. In 2006, Mendes scored most goals per minute played for AIK. All of his goals were scored as a substitute, earning him a reputation as the squad's "super sub". In 2014, Mendes left Sweden to go on loan with Minnesota United FC in the NASL. His stay was made permanent on October 9. Mendes remained with Minnesota until their move to Major League Soccer following the 2016 NASL season. Dioh Williams (born 8 October 1984) is a Liberian former professional footballer who played as a forward. He mostly spent his career in Sweden, representing top tier clubs BK Häcken and Gefle IF. He has also played for clubs in Denmark and Russia. Williams was a member of the Liberia national team. Mats Christer Lilienberg (born 22 December 1969) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a striker.
