2003 IAAF World Outdoor Meetings
The 2003 IAAF World Outdoor Meetings was the first edition of the annual global series of one-day track and field competitions organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). It replaced the IAAF Grand Prix as the IAAF's primary outdoor track and field series. Compared to the 2002 IAAF Grand Prix, a new tier of meetings – IAAF Super Grand Prix – was introduced and the IAAF Permit Meetings concept was dropped. The series had four levels: 2003 IAAF Golden League, Super Grand Prix, Grand Prix and Grand Prix II. There were 6 Golden League meetings, Super Grand Prix category featured 7 meetings from 12 June to 8 August, the IAAF Grand Prix category featured 10 meetings from 4 May to 7 September and Grand Prix II featured 11 meetings from 1 March to 3 August, making a combined total of 34 meetings for the series. 2002 IAAF Grand Prix
The 2002 IAAF Grand Prix was the eighteenth edition of the annual global series of one-day track and field competitions organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The series was divided into four levels: 2002 IAAF Golden League, Grand Prix I and Grand Prix II, and IAAF Permit Meetings. There were seven Golden League meetings, Grand Prix I featured 9 meetings from 5 May to 23 August and Grand Prix II featured 11 meetings from 7 March to 8 September, making a combined total of 27 meetings for the series. An additional 10 IAAF Outdoor Permit Meetings were attached to the circuit. Compared to the previous season, the meeting schedule remained mostly unchanged, with the exception of the dropping of the Nikaia meeting in Nice and the British Grand Prix II meeting being moved from Gateshead to Sheffield. Gugl-Meeting
The Gugl Games, formerly known as the Gugl-Meeting and the Zipfer Grand Prix, is the largest one-day athletics meet in Austria, and is held at the Linzer Stadion in Linz. Founded in 1988 the Gugl-Meeting was an IAAF Grand Prix-status event from 1994 onwards and has changed to EAA Premium status in 2006. Many major athletic stars have participated in the Gugl-Meeting, including Carl Lewis, Colin Jackson, Allen Johnson, Marion Jones, Iván Pedroso, Maria de Lurdes Mutola, Javier Sotomayor. The Linz track is famous for fast 100-m sprint and excellent long jump performances. On 20 August 2006, Israeli newspaper ''Ynet'' revealed that the competition had not accepted European Pole vaulting champion, Aleksandr Averbukh, due to his Israeli nationality. After a four-year hiatus, the meet restarted under its new name in 2012 and was held over two days. The 2015 edition was cancelled. Tsiklitiria
The Athens Grand Prix Tsiklitiria is an annual athletics event at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece as part of the IAAF World Challenge Meetings. It was first organized in 1963, held at the Panathinaiko Stadium. Its name honours Kostas Tsiklitiras, who won four olympic medals at the 1908 and 1912 Olympic Games in long jump and high jump, both from standing position. Josef Odložil Memorial
The Josef Odložil Memorial ( cs, Memoriál Josefa Odložila) is an annual track and field meeting which takes place in June at Stadion Juliska (until 2001 at Stadion Evžena Rošického) in Prague, Czech Republic. The competition was first held in 1994 as a race over 2000 m in memory of Czech middle-distance runner Josef Odložil – a silver medallist over 1500 metres at the 1964 Summer Olympics, who died in 1993. The programme expanded to a wider selection of track and field events the following year. The meet grew in stature, attracting a number of top-class international competitors, and by 2004 it had gained IAAF Grand Prix status and was broadcast on television by Eurosport. In 2011, it was selected as an "Outdoor Premium Meeting" by the European Athletics Association. Brothers Znamensky Memorial
The Brothers Znamensky Memorial (russian: Мемориал братьев Знаменских) is an annual track and field competition which is held at the Meteor Stadium in Zhukovsky, Russia. The event is held in memory of Seraphim and Georgy Znamensky, the 1930s Soviet champions in long-distance running who died in 1942 and 1946, respectively. It was established in 1949, and received an international status in 1958, as only Soviet (Russian) athletes competed in 1949–1950 and 1998, and there was a break in the event between 1950 and 1958. Each edition features memorial races over distances from 1500 metres to 10,000 metres. The event has attracted many high-profile runners throughout the decades, from Gaston Roelants and Pyotr Bolotnikov to Kip Keino and Evgeni Ignatov, through to Noureddine Morceli and Daniel Komen. Memorial Primo Nebiolo
The Memorial Primo Nebiolo is an annual track and field meeting held at the Stadio Primo Nebiolo in Turin, Italy in early June. History The history of the Turin competition dates back to 1963, when the Torino Meeting was first held. This event hosted top level athletes, such as Sebastian Coe and Saïd Aouita, for two decades until its cancellation in 1983. A re-boot occurred in 1995 with the launch of the Meeting Internazionale di Atletica Leggera Città di Torino and it quickly became part of the IAAF Grand Prix circuit. Following the death of the highly influential Italian sports administrator Primo Nebiolo (a former IAAF President who was born in the city), the competition was renamed in his honour in 2000 as the Memorial Primo Nebiolo. Notturna Di Milano
Notturna di Milano ( en, Night in Milan) is an annual track and field meeting which is held in September at the Arena Civica in Milan, Italy. First held in 1998, the meeting received IAAF permit meeting status the following year. In its earlier years, men's sprinting was one of the primary attractions of the meeting, with former world record holders Donovan Bailey and Tim Montgomery among those competing. The third edition of the meeting attracted many prominent athletes including Olympic champion Haile Gebrselassie and World Champion sprinter Dennis Mitchell (world record holder Maurice Greene was also set to compete but withdrew due to illness).
