2003 European Cup Winter Throwing
The 2003 European Winter Throwing Challenge was held on 1 and 2 March at Stadio Polivalente Gioia Tauro in Gioia Tauro, Italy. It was the third edition of the athletics competition for throwing events organised by the European Athletics Association. A total of 137 athletes from 24 countries entered the competition. The competition featured men's and women's contests in shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and hammer throw. Several events were split into two groups due to the number of entries. Russia and Germany were the top performing nations at the competition. Russia won the women's division on points and had the largest medal haul with one gold, four silver and three bronze medals. Germany topped the men's points table and was the only nation to win two gold medals at the challenge. Ivan Yushkov (born 15 January 1981) is a Russian shot putter. His personal best throw is 21.01 metres, achieved in May 2008 in Sochi. In 2016, he was disqualified from the Beijing 2008 Olympics following reanalysis of his samples from the 2008 Olympics, resulted in a positive test for the prohibited substances turinabol, oxandrolone and stanozolol. Biography She finished seventh at the 2002 European Indoor Championships, fourteenth at the 2002 European Championships and eleventh at the 2006 European Championships. Anna Anatoliyivna Romanova (born 21 February 1985) is a Ukrainian politician, former Member of the Ukrainian Parliament, member of the parliamentary faction Samopomich Union. Irina Alexandrovna Khudoroshkina (russian: Ирина Александровна Худорошҝина); born October 13, 1968) is a Russian shot putter. She won the bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She also finished second at the 1996 European Indoor Championships. In 2004, she was suspended for a doping offense, her suspension lasting from April 2004 to April 2006. She returned to finish seventh at the 2006 European Championships and win the silver medal at the 2007 European Indoor Championships. She competed at the 2008 Olympic Games without reaching the final. Her personal best throw is 20.32 metres, achieved in May 1996 in Sochi. Ilya Konovalov (hammer Thrower)
Ilya Valeryevich Konovalov (russian: Илья Валерьевич Коновалов; born 4 March 1971 in Yefrosimovka, Kursk) is a retired male hammer thrower from Russia, whose personal best throw is 82.28 metres, achieved in August 2003 in Tula. In 2007 Konovalov was found guilty of acetazolamide doping. The sample was delivered on 17 December 2006 in an in-competition test in Kursk, Russia. He received a suspension from February 2007 to February 2009. International competitions Note: At the 2004 Athens Olympics, Konovalov failed to reach the final. Nicola Vizzoni (born 4 November 1973 in Pietrasanta, Province of Lucca) is a male hammer thrower from Italy. He won the silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics and ten years later at the 2010 European Athletics Championships. His personal best throw is 80.50 metres, achieved in July 2001 in Formia. He has won 19 medals (8 gold, 8 silver, 3 bronze) at the International athletics competitions.
