2003 Australian Individual Speedway Championship
The 2003 Australian Individual Speedway Championship was the 2003 version of the Australian Individual Speedway Championship organised by Motorcycling Australia. The final was held at the Gosford Speedway in Gosford, New South Wales and was the last time the championship was run under the single meeting format that had been in place since the first championship was run in 1926. Defending champion Leigh Adams of Victoria was unbeaten over his 5 heats and the final to win his 7th Australian senior championship, breaking the record of six wins by Billy Sanders. New South Wales riders Craig Watson, Todd Wiltshire and Mick Poole rounded out the top four point scorers to advance to the final. Australian Individual Speedway Championship
The Australian Solo Championship is a motorcycle speedway championship held each year to determine the Australian national champion. It is organised by Motorcycling Australia (MA) and is the oldest continuously running national speedway championship in the world having been run since 1926 with the exception of 1942-1945 when racing was suspended during World War II and 1955-1961 when the championship was not held. The first Australian Solo Championship in 1926 was held at the Newcastle Showground in Newcastle. It was won by American rider Cecil Brown from Mick Brennan and Roy Hindle. Legendary Danish rider Ole Olsen (1976) and Australia's own Jason Crump (2007) are the only riders who have won the championship while being the reigning Speedway World Champion. Australia is one of the major teams in international motorcycle speedway with the country regarded as the birthplace of the sport in the 1920s. The current team is managed by former rider Mark Lemon, and captained by 2012 World Champion Chris Holder. Rusty Harrison
Russell Wade "Rusty" Harrison (born 11 October 1981 in Elizabeth, South Australia) is an Australian speedway rider. Career summary Harrison won the Australian Under-16 Championship in 1995 in Perth and again in 1997 at his home track in Adelaide (Sidewinders Speedway), before going on to be the Australian Under-21 Champion in 2001, winning again at home in Adelaide, this time at the Gillman Speedway. In 2002 he was third in the Australian Under-21 Championship at Gillman behind winner Travis McGowan and second placed Cameron Woodward. Rory Schlein
Rory Robert Schlein (born 1 September 1984) is an Australian speedway rider. Career Born in Darwin, Northern Territory, Schlein, lived in the southern Adelaide suburb of Hallett Cove and won the Australian Under-16 Championship at the Northline Speedway in his home town of Darwin in 2000. Schlein was signed by the Edinburgh Monarchs in 2001 and won the Conference League championship that year while on loan at Sheffield Tigers. He won the Premier League championship with the Monarchs in 2003 and won the Australian Under-21 Speedway Championship in 2003 and 2004 and finished 2nd to Chris Holder in 2005.
