Wigan Athletic F
Wigan ( ) is a large town in Greater Manchester, England, on the River Douglas. The town is midway between the two cities of Manchester, to the south-east, and Liverpool, to the south-west. Bolton lies to the north-east and Warrington to the south. It is the largest settlement in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan and is its administrative centre. The town has a population of 107,732 and the wider borough of 330,713. Wigan was formerly within the historic county of Lancashire. Wigan was in the territory of the Brigantes, an ancient Celtic tribe that ruled much of what is now northern England. Michael Flynn (footballer)
Michael John Samuel Flynn (born 17 October 1980) is a Welsh professional football manager and former player who played as a midfielder. He is the current head coach of EFL League Two club Walsall. Flynn began his career with Newport County, becoming a professional with Barry Town before his break out with Championship side Gillingham. He appeared 91 times for Bradford City. He returned to Newport County and played while obtaining his UEFA Pro License. Flynn became caretaker manager of Newport County in 2017 amid a relegation battle. After 2017's 'Great Escape', Newport County won FA Cup fixtures against Leeds United, Leicester City and Middlesbrough. Peter Kennedy (footballer)
Peter Kennedy (born 10 September 1973) is a Northern Irish former professional footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. In 1995/96, he was named as the Ulster Footballer of the Year. After his first spell in Northern Ireland he had a successful spell in English football, initially joining Notts County in August 1996 where he scored once against Newcastle Town in the FA Cup, before moving onto Watford a season later, where he led the Hornets to promotion to Division One as their highest goalscorer. He scored two goals in quick succession in the derby with Luton Town, a hat-trick against Southend United, and a splendid long-range effort against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup. Lee McCulloch
Lee Henry McCulloch (born 14 May 1978) is a Scottish professional football coach and former player. He is the first team assistant manager at Scottish Premiership club Heart of Midlothian. McCulloch was capped on eighteen occasions by the Scotland national football team. During his career he has played for Motherwell, Wigan Athletic, Rangers and Kilmarnock at club level. He played mostly as a central defender or a defensive midfielder during his time at Rangers (he also played striker for the club when required) but has also played as an attacking midfielder and winger during his time in English football. Neil Roberts (Welsh Footballer)
Neil Roberts (born 7 April 1978) is a Welsh former professional footballer and Wales international. He is currently working as a project manager for Manchester City. Career Roberts started his career in 1994 when he played for Wrexham. After signing for the club as a trainee, he made his debut on 27 September 1997 during a 0–0 draw with Chesterfield before going on to score five goals in his next four games. He became an established first-team player at the Racecourse Ground, making 75 appearances and scoring 17 goals. He left Wrexham in 2000 to join Wigan Athletic, where he made 125 appearances and scoring 19 goals. Ian Breckin (born 24 July 1975) is an English former professional footballer. He is now head coach at Wickersley Wanderers. Playing career Early career Born in Rotherham, Breckin started his career with his hometown club Rotherham United as a trainee, before signing pro in 1993. Jason Richard de Vos (born January 2, 1974) is a Canadian former professional soccer player who played as a central defender. An international for Canada, de Vos played in Canada and the United Kingdom – most notably with Wigan Athletic and Ipswich Town. Matthew Alan Jackson (born 19 October 1971) is an English former professional footballer who is the president of Swiss Super League side Grasshopper Club Zürich. Stephen McMillan
Stephen Thomas McMillan (born 19 January 1976, in Edinburgh) is a Scottish former footballer, who retired from professional football in February 2007. He played for Troon, Motherwell and Wigan Athletic. Career McMillan started his career at Scottish Junior side Troon before joining Motherwell in 1993. While at Motherwell, McMillan suffered a broken leg, which would lead to several injury problems in his later career. He bounced back from that unfortunate incident to develop into an all-around defender, able to move forward into attacking positions when needed. Paul Mitchell (footballer Born 1981)
Paul Alexander Mitchell (born 26 August 1981) is an English football scout and former professional player. As a player, Mitchell began playing with the youth teams of Manchester City and Wigan Athletic, making his senior debut with the latter. He also played for Halifax Town, Swindon Town and Milton Keynes Dons on loan, whom he later joined permanently. Mitchell also had loan spells with Wrexham and Barnet before injuries forced an early retirement at the age of 27. John Richard Filan (born 8 February 1970) is an Australian football coach and former professional player. As a player, he was a goalkeeper from 1989 until 2008 and notably played in the Premier League for Coventry City where he was a specialist at kicking the ball out of the stadium when under pressure, Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic, having also been contracted without playing for Nottingham Forest in England's top division.
