Yukon Legislative Assembly
The Yukon Legislative Assembly (french: Assemblée législative du Yukon) is the legislative assembly for Yukon, Canada. Unique among Canada's Provinces and territories of Canada, three territories, the Yukon Legislative Assembly is the only territorial legislature which is organized along political party lines. In contrast, in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, their legislative assemblies are elected on a Non-partisan democracy, non-partisan basis and operate on a consensus government model. Klondike (electoral District)
Klondike is an electoral district which returns a member (known as an MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of Yukon in Canada. One of Yukon's eight rural ridings, it is also the oldest riding in Yukon, first established in 1905. The riding includes Dawson City and its environs, as well as Eagle Plains. Klondike was the only seat won by the Yukon Party in the 2000 territorial election and the only seat held by the Liberals prior to the 2016 territorial election. Eric Fairclough
Eric Fairclough is a Canadian politician, who was a Cabinet minister and Leader of the Official Opposition in the Yukon Legislative Assembly. He represented the rural Yukon electoral district of Mayo-Tatchun in the Yukon Legislative Assembly from 1996 to 2011 under both the Yukon New Democratic Party and the Liberals. He is also a former Chief of the Little Salmon/Carmacks First Nation. Mayo-Tatchun
Mayo-Tatchun is an electoral district which returns an MLA to the Legislative Assembly of the Yukon Territory in Canada. It is an amalgamation of the former Mayo and Tatchun electoral districts. Mayo-Tatchun is currently one of the Yukon's eight rural ridings. Wayne Jim
Wayne Jim (February 24, 1961-November 28, 2018) was a Canadian politician who represented the electoral district of McIntyre-Takhini in the Yukon Legislative Assembly from April 2000 to November 2002. Jim was elected as a member of the Yukon Liberal Party in the 2000 election, unexpectedly defeating the Yukon NDP and Yukon Government Leader Piers McDonald. He was appointed Minister for Government Services by Yukon Premier Pat Duncan following the election. He was also appointed as a member of the Advisory Committee on Finance. In 2002, Jim was dismissed from the post, and subsequently became one of three MLAs, along with Mike McLarnon and Don Roberts, who resigned or were dismissed from the Liberal caucus led by Premier Duncan, reducing Duncan's government to a minority. John Edzerza
John Edzerza (August 14, 1948 – November 25, 2011) was a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of McIntyre-Takhini in the Yukon Legislative Assembly. Political career Born in British Columbia in 1948, he first entered politics in 2002 as a Yukon Party MLA, and served as Minister of Justice and Minister of Education in Dennis Fentie's cabinet. After disagreeing with a number of government decisions in early 2006, he resigned from the Yukon Party on August 2, 2006, to sit as an independent MLA, and recontested his seat in that fall's territorial election as a candidate of the Yukon New Democratic Party. He was re-elected, and served in the NDP caucus under Todd Hardy until January 2009, when he resigned from the NDP to sit again as an independent. He rejoined the Yukon Party on October 22, 2009, and served as Minister of the Environment until retiring in 2011. Edzerza died of leukemia on November 25, 2011. It was dissolved in 2009 into the ridings Takhini-Kopper King and Mountainview. Lake Laberge (electoral District)
Lake Laberge is an electoral district which returns a member (known as an MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of the Yukon Territory in Canada. It is one of the Yukon's eight rural districts and is named after the eponymous Lake Laberge, which is within the riding. Lake Laberge encompasses the Whitehorse subdivisions of MacPherson, and Hidden Valley, as well as the residents of the Takhini Hot Springs Road, Pilot Mountain, the Hamlet of Ibex Valley, and the North Klondike Highway and Lake Laberge as far as Braeburn Lodge.
