2002 USA Outdoor Track And Field Championships
The 2002 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships was organised by USA Track & Field and held from June 21 to 23 at the Cobb Track & Angell Field in Palo Alto, California. The three-day competition served as the national championships in track and field for the United States. The same facility would host this meet the following year, but this was the last year to use the three day format as the four-day format was adopted in 2003. The combined track and field events were contested at Edwards Stadium in Berkeley, California in the two days preceding the start of the main programme. Marion Jones won a women's 100 m/200 m sprint double – the third time in her career that she had done so, and her fifth straight 200 m win. Allen Johnson
Allen Kenneth Johnson (born March 1, 1971) is an American former hurdling athlete who won the gold medal in the 110 metre hurdles at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He is also a four-time world champion. Born in Washington, D.C., an all-round athlete, Johnson attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and excelled at high jump, long jump and decathlon as well as hurdles. He was the 1992 NCAA Indoor Champion for 55 meter hurdles but did not win the outdoor championship. James Carter (athlete)
James Carter (born May 7, 1978) is an American athlete who competed in the 400 m hurdles. His personal best of 47.43 was set when winning the silver medal at the 2005 World Championships. As of 2017, he is the 15th fastest-ever in the world and 9th fastest-ever in the USA. A 3-time United States champion (2002, 2004, 2007), he won the 2002 IAAF World Cup tile and finished fourth in the Olympic finals in 2000 and 2004. 2002 IAAF World Cup
The 9th IAAF World Cup in Athletics was an international track and field sporting event sponsored by the International Association of Athletics Federations. It was hosted by Madrid, September 21–22, 2002, in the Estadio La Peineta. The IAAF world cup event is currently held every four years. The team winner of the men's competition was Africa, while the Russian team took the women's cup. Overall results Men 1 Great Britain originally finished eighth, but were disqualified in August 2003 after Dwain Chambers admitted to using THG between the beginning of 2002 and August 2003. All other individual results were allowed to stand, but the IAAF ruled these athletes received no score. Kelli White
Kelli White (born April 1, 1977, in Oakland, California) is an American former sprinter. She won two gold medals in the World Championships in Paris in 2003. However, on June 18, 2004, she was stripped of her medals, because she tested positive on a drug test. She retired from professional track in 2006. Early life and education White's parents had both been sprinters. Her mother, Debbie Byfield, competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics. She attended James Logan High School in Union City, California, where she was on the track team. In 1994, when she was 17, a fellow student slashed her face with a knife; 300 stitches were required to close the wounds. White continued competing that season. Timothy Montgomery (born January 28, 1975) is an American former track sprinter who specialized in the 100-meter dash. Darvis "Doc" Darell Patton (born December 4, 1977) is a retired American track and field athlete who competed in sprinting events. He is a two-time US Champion in the 200-meter dash and won the silver medal in the event at the 2003 World Championships. Alvin Leonardo Harrison (born January 20, 1974) is an American former track and field athlete who competed in sprinting events. Ramon Clay
Ramon Clay (born June 29, 1975) is a retired American sprinter who specialized in the 200 metres. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee. As a senior at Nashville's Hunters Lane High School, despite having the flu during the State Championships, Clay was the champion in the 100, 200, and 400 meters. His personal bests in high school were hand timed at 10.2 in the 100m, 20.9 in the 200m, and 46.4 in the 400m, before the State used automatic timing. His best 200 and 400 times were recorded a mere 20 minutes apart at the Banner Relays in Nashville. He attended Norfolk State University.
