2002 Toppserien
The 2002 season of the ''Toppserien'', the highest women's football (soccer) league in Norway, began on 20 April 2002 and ended on 26 October 2002. 18 games were played with 3 points given for wins and 1 for draws. Toppserien
The Toppserien is the top level of women's association football in Norway. It was founded in 1984. History Women's league football was introduced on a county basis in 1977. These leagues acted as qualification for the regional (South) league in 1979. Regional leagues were in operation until the formation of the First Division 1984, when the league was divided into three regions, Group Eastern-Norway (''Østlandet''), Group Western-Norway (''Vestlandet''), and Group Mid-Norway (''Trøndelag''). No teams from Northern-Norway (''Nord-Norge'') played, however. The winners of the three groups met each other for a play-off. Regional leagues for women had been played before 1984, and a championship play-off had been done between the winners of Mid-Norway and Eastern-Norway in 1983 ( Trondheims-Ørn beat Setskog 2-1), but this championship was considered unofficial by the Football Association of Norway. Lene Espedal (born 11 January 1983) is a retired Norwegian football midfielder. She played junior football for Sandved IL and made her senior debut Klepp IL in 1999. Arna-Bjørnar Fotball is a Norwegian football club from Arna, Bergen. It was founded in late 2000 as a merger between the football branches from ''IL Bjørnar'' and ''Arna T&IL'', and replaced Bjørnar IL in the league system from 2001. The women's team has played since then in the ''Toppserien'' apart from the 2005 season when it was in the First divisjon. Solveig Ingersdatter Gulbrandsen (born 12 January 1981) is a Norwegian footballer currently playing for Kolbotn of the Toppserien. At club level she has previously represented Kolbotn, FC Gold Pride, Vålerenga Fotball Damer and Stabæk. With the Norwegian national team Gulbrandsen accrued 183 caps, scored 55 goals and won the 2000 Summer Olympics. Rosenborg Ballklub Kvinner (previously known as Sportsklubben Trondheims-Ørn) is a Norwegian women's professional football club in Trondheim, Trøndelag. History The club was founded as a multi-sports club on May 18, 1917, and became a member of the Workers' Sports Federation in the 1920s. It was first based in Lademoen and had a clubhouse at Buran between 1946 and the 1960s. It had sections for men's football, Nordic skiing, speed skating, track and field, and swimming. Team handball followed in 1952, and ice hockey in 1961. The women's football section was established in 1972, twelve years before a national league was organized. Brit Sandaune (born 5 June 1972) is a Norwegian footballer and pre-school teacher. She is originally from the rural area of Skatval in the municipality of Stjørdal, Nord-Trøndelag, and is educated in economy and administration. Brit is today settled in Trondheim with her cohabitant Roy Nilsen. Football Brit Sandaune has (per 2001) won six league championships and seven Norwegian national championship (with Trondheims-Ørn SK) in women's soccer. She is an Olympic Gold and Bronze medallist. ''Elene'' is a poem in Old English, that is sometimes known as ''Saint Helena Finds the True Cross''. It was translated from a Latin text and is the longest of Cynewulf's four signed poems. It is the last of six poems appearing in the Vercelli manuscript, which also contains '' The Fates of the Apostles'', '' Andreas'', ''Soul and Body I'', the ''Homiletic Fragment I'' and '' Dream of the Rood''. The poem is the first English account of the finding of the Holy Cross by Saint Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine. The poem was written by Cynewulf some time between 750 and the tenth century. It is written in a West Saxon dialect, but certain Anglianisms and metrical evidence concerning false rhymes suggest it was written in an Anglian rather than Saxon dialect. It is 1,321 lines long.
