The 2002 Parramatta Eels season was the 56th in the club's history. Coached by Brian Smith and captained by Nathan Cayless, they competed in the National Rugby League's 2002 Telstra Premiership. Summary Parramatta started the 2002 season with a 64-6 victory over Penrith at Parramatta Stadium. The club would win seven of their first ten games to sit fourth on the competition ladder. 2002 NRL Season
The 2002 NRL season was the 95th season of professional rugby league football in Australia and the fifth to be run by the National Rugby League. The season was affected by the competition-leading Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs' salary cap breach finding, which saw them relegated to the bottom of the NRL ladder. As a result, the New Zealand Warriors won their first minor premiership and made it to the grand final for the first time, playing against foundation club the Sydney Roosters who won the match and collected their first premiership in 27 years. Ashley Graham (rugby League)
Ashley Graham (born 4 June 1984) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s and 2010s. Primarily a , he played for the Parramatta Eels and North Queensland Cowboys in the National Rugby League (NRL). Nathan Hindmarsh
Nathan William Hindmarsh (born 7 September 1979) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who captained the Parramatta Eels in the NRL. A New South Wales State of Origin and Australian international representative second-row forward, he played his entire career at the Eels, in 2010 breaking the record for most games with the club. On 28 August 2018, Hindmarsh was inducted into the Parramatta Eels hall of fame. Background Hindmarsh was born in Bowral, New South Wales, Australia. He is of Scottish descent. Newcastle Knights
The Newcastle Knights are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Newcastle, New South Wales. Penrith Panthers
The Penrith Panthers are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the western Sydney suburb of Penrith that competes in the NRL. The team is based west of the centre of Sydney, at the foot of the Blue Mountains. Penrith are the current reigning NRL Premiers, having won the title four times.
