2002 Outback Bowl
The 2002 Outback Bowl featured the South Carolina Gamecocks, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. South Carolina had comfortably defeated Ohio State in the previous year's game, 24–7. Big Ten Conference
The Big Ten Conference (stylized B1G, formerly the Western Conference and the Big Nine Conference) is the oldest Division I collegiate athletic conference in the United States. 2001 Ohio State Buckeyes Football Team
The 2001 Ohio State Buckeyes football team represented Ohio State University in the 2001 NCAA Division I-A football season. It marked their first season under new head coach Jim Tressel. The Buckeyes compiled a 7–5 record, capped by a 26–20 victory over their rival the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor in the regular season finale. 2001–02 NCAA Football Bowl Games
The 2001–02 NCAA football bowl games concluded the 2001 NCAA Division I-A football season. The Miami Hurricanes won the BCS National Championship Game over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 37–14. A total of 25 team-competitive games were played—starting on December 18, 2001, and ending on January 3, 2002—with participation by 50 bowl-eligible teams. North Texas entered the New Orleans Bowl with a losing record of 5–6; they were able to play in a bowl game by being co-champions of the Sun Belt Conference, having compiled a 5–1 conference record. Jonathan Wells (born July 21, 1979) is a former American football running back. He played college football at Ohio State University and professionally in the National Football League (NFL) with the Houston Texans. Michael Gerard Jenkins (born June 18, 1982) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). Steve Bellisari (born April 21, 1980) is a former American football quarterback. He is best known for his time playing football at Ohio State University from 1998 to 2001.
