2002 New York Jets
The 2002 season was the New York Jets' 33rd in the National Football League (NFL), their 43rd season overall and their second under head coach Herman Edwards. The team tried to improve upon their 10–6 record from 2001 but failed to do so after a 2–5 start. However, the Jets recovered and finished 9–7, winning their second AFC East division title. After a 24–21 week 8 loss to the Cleveland Browns at the Meadowlands dropped the Jets' season record to 2–5, head coach Herman Edwards gave his famous "You play to win the game" response to a question in his press conference the following Tuesday. Edwards' vigorous defense of his team's refusal to quit, along with the midseason debut of quarterback Chad Pennington, helped spark the Jets' turnaround. The American Football Conference – Eastern Division or AFC East is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Matt Turk
Matthew Edward Turk (born June 16, 1968) is a former American football punter. He was originally signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 1993. He played college football at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Turk has also been a member of the Los Angeles Rams, Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, St. Louis Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans. Larry Melvin Webster Jr. (born January 18, 1969) is a former American football defensive tackle, who spent eleven seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at University of Maryland. Early years A native of Elkton, Maryland, Webster graduated from Elkton High School where he was a letterman in football, basketball and track and field. His primary football position at the time was running back. He attended the University of Maryland on a full athletic scholarship. With the Terrapins football team, he made the transition to defensive lineman and was its Most Valuable Player in his senior year. Samuel Cowart III (born February 26, 1975) is a former American college and professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons. Josh Evans (defensive Lineman)
Mijoshki Antwon Evans (September 6, 1972 – February 4, 2021) was an American football player. Career Evans played collegiately at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama with whom he was a four-year starter. Evans was signed as an undrafted free agent in 1995 by the Houston Oilers and stayed with them during the franchise's move to Tennessee. In 1999, the Titans made it to Super Bowl XXXIV in which Evans started. However, they lost to the Kurt Warner-led St. Louis Rams. In 2000, Evans served a one-year suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. In 2002, Evans signed with The New York Jets with whom he spent the last three seasons of his NFL career. Marcus Coleman (born May 24, 1974) is a former American football defensive back in the National Football League (NFL) for the New York Jets, Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys. David Andrew Szott (born December 12, 1967) is a former professional American football offensive lineman. Szott was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the seventh round of the 1990 NFL Draft.
