2002 Iraqi Elite Cup
The Twelfth Mother of all Battles Championship ( ar, بطولة أم المعارك الثانية عشرة), commonly referred to as the 2002 Iraqi Elite Cup ( ar, كأس النخبة العراقي 2002), was the twelfth occurrence of the Iraqi Elite Cup. The competition was organised by the Iraq Football Association and the top eight teams of the 2001–02 Iraqi Elite League competed in the tournament. Al-Karkh Sports Club ( ar, نادي الكرخ الرياضي) is an Iraqi sports club based in Karkh, Baghdad. Its professional football team plays in the Iraqi Premier League, the top tier of the Iraqi football. The club's home stadium is Al-Saher Ahmed Radhi Stadium. Founded in 1963, Al-Karkh was not successful in reaching the top-flight of Iraqi football until Al-Rasheed SC's properties and place in the top division were transferred to Al-Karkh when Al-Rasheed were dissolved in 1990. Hashim Ridha Mohammed Alwan Wazni ( ar, هاشم رضا محمد علوان, born May 18, 1979 in Karbala, Iraq) is a former Iraqi footballer and also former manager of Al-Shorta. Al-Shorta Stadium ( ar, ملعب الشرطة) was a multi-use stadium in Baghdad, Iraq. It was used mostly for football matches, serving as the home stadium of Al-Shorta SC Al-Shorta Sports Club ( ar, نادي الشرطة الرياضي, lit=''Police Sports Club'') is an Iraqi sports club based in Al-Rusafa, Baghdad. Abdul-Qadir Zeinal, club president at the time, oversaw the construction of the stadium in the late 1980s with club workers and volunteers and it was opened for its first match on 23 December 1990 where Al-Shorta beat Al-Tijara 3–2.
