2002 IAAF World Cup
The 9th IAAF World Cup in Athletics was an international track and field sporting event sponsored by the International Association of Athletics Federations. It was hosted by Madrid, September 21–22, 2002, in the Estadio La Peineta. The IAAF world cup event is currently held every four years. The team winner of the men's competition was Africa, while the Russian team took the women's cup. Overall results Men 1 Great Britain originally finished eighth, but were disqualified in August 2003 after Dwain Chambers admitted to using THG between the beginning of 2002 and August 2003. All other individual results were allowed to stand, but the IAAF ruled these athletes received no score. Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie (born 16 January 1976) is a former Bahamian sprint athlete who specialised in the 100 and 200 metres. Ferguson-McKenzie participated in five Olympics. Ferguson-McKenzie is assistant coach of track and field at University of Kentucky. Previously, she coached for four years at the University of Houston. In 1995, she was awarded the Austin Sealy Trophy for the most outstanding athlete of the 1995 CARIFTA Games. In total she won 7 gold, 9 silver, and 2 bronze CARIFTA Games medals. Ramon Clay
Ramon Clay (born June 29, 1975) is a retired American sprinter who specialized in the 200 metres. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee. As a senior at Nashville's Hunters Lane High School, despite having the flu during the State Championships, Clay was the champion in the 100, 200, and 400 meters. His personal bests in high school were hand timed at 10.2 in the 100m, 20.9 in the 200m, and 46.4 in the 400m, before the State used automatic timing. His best 200 and 400 times were recorded a mere 20 minutes apart at the Banner Relays in Nashville. He attended Norfolk State University. At the 1996 Olympic Trials, he just missed representing the USA at the 1996 Olympics in the 200 meters, finishing 4th in a race where a world record time (19.66 seconds) was set by Michael Johnson. Marlon Ronald Devonish, (born 1 June 1976) is an English former sprinter who competed in the 100 metres and 200 metres. A prodigious relay runner with particular strength as a 'bend' runner, Devonish ran the third leg for the Great Britain quartet which won the 4 x 100 metres at the 2004 Olympic Games, and won four World Championship medals in the same event in 1999, 2005, 2007 and 2009. Early life Devonish attended Caludon Castle School in Coventry. Career He is a member of the Coventry Godiva Harriers athletics club and was coached by Tony Lester. Frank "Frankie" Fredericks (born 2 October 1967) is a former track and field athlete from Namibia. Running in the 100 metres and 200 metres, he won four silver medals at the Olympic Games (two in 1992 and two in 1996), making him Namibia's only able-bodied Olympic medalist until Christine Mboma's silver medal at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
