2002 FIVB Men's World Championship
The 2002 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship was the 15th edition of the event, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB. It was held in Salta, Córdoba, Argentina, Córdoba, Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Santa Fé, Argentina, Santa Fé and San Juan, Argentina, San Juan in Argentina from September 28 to October 13, 2002. All times are Time in Argentina, Argentina Time (UTC−03:00). Qualification * Due to the clash of dates with the Volleyball at the 2002 Asian Games – Men, 2002 Asian Games, South Korea withdrew from participating and instead was FIVB give a wildcard to Poland. Eduardo Duhalde
Eduardo Alberto Duhalde (; born 5 October 1941) is an Argentine Peronist politician who served as the interim President of Argentina from January 2002 to May 2003. He also served as Vice President and Governor of Buenos Aires in the 1990s. Born in Lomas de Zamora, he was elected for the local legislature and appointed ''intendente'' (mayor) in 1973. He was deposed during the 1976 Argentine coup d'état, and elected again when democracy was restored in 1983. He was elected vice-president of Argentina in 1989, under President Carlos Menem. Duhalde resigned as vice president and was elected Governor of Buenos Aires Province in 1991, and re-elected in 1995. He ran for president in 1999, being defeated by Fernando de la Rúa. The Orfeo Superdome is an indoor arena, indoor sports arena that is located in Córdoba, Argentina, Córdoba, Argentina. Estadio Ángel Malvicino
The Estadio Angel P. Malvicino is an indoor arena in Santa Fe, Argentina. It mostly hosts basketball matches but also volleyball, futsal, boxing, handball and artistic events. Unión de Santa Fe currently plays at this stadium its home matches for the Torneo Nacional de Ascenso, the second division of the Argentine basketball league system. The Estadio Aldo Cantoni is an indoor arena located in the city of San Juan, capital of San Juan Province. It is mainly use by UPCN Vóley Club and Obras Pocito for its home matches for the Serie A1, the top level of the Argentine men's volleyball league system. The men's volleyball tournament at the 2002 Asian Games was held from Tuesday October 2 to Saturday October 13, 2002 in Busan, South Korea. 24 teams competed in the 2002 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship, with two places allocated for the hosts, Argentina and the titleholder, Italy. In the qualification process for the 2002 FIVB World Championship, the Five FIVB confederations were allocated a share of the 22 remaining spots.
