2001–02 Rangers F.C. Season
The 2001–02 season was the 122nd season of competitive football by Rangers. Overview Rangers played a total of 59 competitive matches during the 2001–02 season. The side won both the Scottish League Cup and Scottish Cup in 2001–02, while finishing second in the Scottish Premier League. The season started under the Management of Dutchman Dick Advocaat. Inconsistent form including two losses to Celtic meant that by December, Rangers were behind Celtic in the league. Advocaat announced his resignation in December, moving to the position of Director of Football and Hibernian manager Alex McLeish took over. Rangers league form improved under McLeish with only one defeat taking place under him before the end of the season, but the gap opened up by Celtic meant no challenge to win the league was possible. Christian Nerlinger
Christian Nerlinger (born 21 March 1973) is a German former professional footballer who played as a central midfielder. His professional career was mainly associated with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Club career Nerlinger was born in Dortmund. He signed for FC Bayern Munich at the age of 13, completing his formation at the Bavarian side. He was promoted to the first team in 1992, but made no Bundesliga appearances in his debut season. Peter Løvenkrands
Peter Rosenkrands Løvenkrands (born 29 January 1980) is a Danish professional football manager and former player. He played mainly as a striker or as a left winger, and was known for his pace. Løvenkrands began his career in his native Denmark, winning the 1999 Danish Cup with Akademisk Boldklub. He then moved to Scottish club Rangers where he played for six years and won seven major honours, including two Scottish Premier League titles. He signed for German team Schalke 04 in 2006, but eventually fell out of favour during his last season there, and transferred to Premier League side Newcastle United in the winter of 2008. Bert Konterman
Bert Konterman (, born 14 January 1971) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a defender. Playing career Born in Rouveen, Konterman's career began with the local amateur club ''SC Rouveen'', then went on to play for clubs in the Dutch Eredivisie including FC Zwolle, Cambuur, Willem II. In summer 1998, he moved to Feyenoord on a four-year contract. Konterman was snapped up by Dick Advocaat in 2000 to play for Rangers for a fee of £4.5 million.
