Huddersfield Town's 2001–02 campaign was their first competitive campaign in the third tier since the 1994–95 in English football, 1994–95 season. Huddersfield finished 6th that season, before losing in the play-offs to 3rd place Brentford F.C., Brentford, who Town beat in the play-off semi-finals in the 1994–95 season. At the start of the season he sold Chris Lucketti to Preston North End F.C., Preston North End in a £750,000 deal, after 76 appearances for Town. Huddersfield Town A
Huddersfield is a market town in the Kirklees district in West Yorkshire, England. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Kirklees district. The town is in the foothills of the Pennines. The River Holme's confluence into the similar-sized Colne to the south of the town centre which then flows into the Calder in the north eastern outskirts of the town. The rivers around the town provided soft water required for textile treatment in large weaving sheds, this made it a prominent mill town with an economic boom in the early part of the Victorian era Industrial Revolution. The town centre has much neoclassical Victorian architecture, one example is which is a Grade I listed building – described by John Betjeman as "the most splendid station façade in England" – and won the Europa Nostra award for architecture. The 1994–95 season was the 115th season of competitive football in England. Overview Premiership Blackburn Rovers ended their 81-year wait for the league title thanks to the strike partnership of Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton which scored a total of more than 50 league goals. Manchester United would have made it three league titles in a row if they had been able to turn a 1–1 draw with West Ham United into a win on the final day of the season. Newly promoted Nottingham Forest finished third and qualified for the UEFA Cup along with fourth placed Liverpool (also League Cup winners) and fifth placed Leeds United. After this season the Premier League would be reduced to 20 clubs, so there would be four relegation places this time round. Thomas Heary
Thomas Heary (born 14 February 1979 in Dublin) is an Irish football player, who last played for Limerick. He is the younger brother of Owen Heary, Bohemians player and club captain. Career Huddersfield Town Heary signed for Huddersfield Town as a youth in 1995. He made his senior debut the following September in a First Division match, coming off the bench late on to replace Sam Collins in his team's 1–0 home victory against Reading. During the remainder of the 1996/97 season, Heary made five further appearances as the Terriers avoided relegation. Between the start of the 1997/98 and the end of the 1999/2000 season, Heary made just eight further appearances in all competitions. Chris Hay
Christopher Drummond Hay (born 28 August 1974) is a Scottish former professional footballer. He played as a striker for Celtic, Swindon Town, Huddersfield Town, St Johnstone and Stirling Albion. Hay began his professional career at Celtic in 1993, but only managed to make 26 league appearances in four years. He joined English club Swindon Town in 1997, and in just under a century of league appearances he scored 32 goals. In 2000, Hay moved to Huddersfield Town and spent two less successful seasons at the McAlpine Stadium. Hay returned to Scotland in 2002 with Billy Stark's St Johnstone. Simon Jonathon Baldry (born 12 February 1976) is an English retired professional footballer who played in the Football League for Huddersfield Town, Bury and Notts County. Career Huddersfield Town Simon Baldry was a youth player who came through the Huddersfield Town Centre of Excellence system. Martyn Margetson
Martyn Walter Margetson (born 8 September 1971) is a Welsh football coach and former professional footballer who is a goalkeeping coach for the England national team and Swansea City. A youth player at Manchester City, where he went on to appear over 50 times, he spent time on loan at Bristol Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Luton Town before moving to Southend United on a permanent basis in 1998 where he remained for one season, joining Huddersfield Town in 1999. After signing for Cardiff City in 2002, he went on to win his first and only cap for Wales in a friendly with Canada in May 2004. Kevin John Gray (born 7 January 1972) is an English former footballer, who played as a defender in the Football League for Mansfield Town, Huddersfield Town, Stockport County (on loan), Tranmere Rovers, Carlisle United and Chesterfield. Clyde Wijnhard
Clyde Wijnhard (born 1 November 1973) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a striker. Born in Paramaribo, Suriname, Wijnhard started his career in the Netherlands with AFC Ajax, and had spells with FC Groningen, RKC Waalwijk and Willem II before joining Premier League club Leeds United for a £1.5 million fee in 1998. Martin Geoffrey Smith (born 13 November 1974 in Sunderland, England) is a former professional footballer. In his professional career he played for Darlington, Northampton Town, Huddersfield Town, Sheffield United, Sunderland and Blyth Spartans. At his first club, Sunderland, he was part of two Division One title winning teams which won promotion to the FA Premier League, and while he was at Sunderland he made his only appearance for the England under-21 side on 15 November 1994. Kenny Irons (footballer)
Kenneth Irons (born 4 November 1970) is an English former professional footballer who made more than 500 appearances in the Football League playing for Tranmere Rovers and Huddersfield Town. He was signed up as a trainee at Tranmere Rovers in 1989, where he made nearly 400 appearances for them in 10 years, before moving to Steve Bruce's Huddersfield Town side for £500,000 in 1999.
