The 2001–02 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 21st official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and ladies. The season began in Kuopio, Finland on 24 November 2001 and finished in Lillehammer, Norway on 23 March 2002. Ole Einar Bjørndalen () (born 27 January 1974) is a retired Norwegian professional Biathlon, biathlete and coach, often referred to by the nickname, the "King of Biathlon". With 13 Winter Olympic Games medals, he is second on the List of multiple Winter Olympic medalists, list of multiple medalists behind Marit Bjørgen who has won 15 medals. Andreas Schlütter
Andreas Schlütter (born 17 August 1972) is a German cross-country skier who has been competing since 1993. He won two medals in the 4 × 10 km relay at the Winter Olympics with a silver in 2006 and a bronze in 2002. Schlütter's best individual Olympic finish was fourth in the 50 km event in 2002. Schlütter also has three 4 × 10 km relay medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, earning two silvers (2003, 2005) and one bronze (2001). His best individual finishes at the World Championships were in 2003 with fifth-place finishes in the 15 km and 30 km events. Jens Arne Svartedal (born February 14, 1976) is a Norwegian former cross-country skier who competed in the World Cup between 1999 and 2010. He represented Trøsken IL from Sarpsborg in Norway. His greatest achievement is winning the individual sprint gold medal at the 2007 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo. Ivan Bátory (born 3 May 1975) is a Slovak cross-country skier who has competed at the international senior level of cross-country skiing since 1993. He was born in Liptovský Mikuláš and lives in Uhorská Ves. As a cross-country skier, he competed for Štrbské Pleso SC. Bátory competed in all eight World Ski Championships from 1995 to 2009 (best finish: sixth in 15 km at Val di Fiemme in 2003), all five Winter Olympics from 1994 to 2010 (best result: eighth in team sprint at Turin in 2006), and all three Tour de Ski events from 2006-07 to 2008-09. Johann Mühlegg
Johann Mühlegg (born 8 November 1970 in Ostallgäu, Germany) is a former top level cross-country skier who competed in international competitions first representing Germany and then Spain, after becoming a Spanish citizen in 1999. He was excluded and disqualified from the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City for doping. Early career Mühlegg participated for Germany in the 1992, 1994 and 1998 Winter Olympics, even though he began having trouble with Germany's ski federation in 1993. From the beginning, Mühlegg singled himself out, at one point accusing German head coach Georg Zipfel for "damaging him spiritually" (the so-called ''Spiritistenaffäre''). He was thrown off the team in 1995, but was reinstated later. Brusson, Aosta Valley
Brusson ( Valdôtain: ; Issime wae, Brütze; Gressoney wae, Britze) is a town and ''comune'' in Val d'Ayas, a left minor valley of the Aosta Valley region in Italy. Tor Arne Hetland (born 12 January 1974) is a Norwegian cross-country skiing coach and a former professional cross-country skier. Hetland was born in Stavanger. He now lives in Trondheim.
