2001–02 Egyptian Premier League
The 2001–02 Egyptian Premier League was the 45th season of the Egyptian Premier League, the top Egyptian professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1948. The season began on 21 September 2001 and concluded on 04 July 2002. Ismaily won their 3rd Egyptian Premier League title in the club history. Ghazl El Suez, Sohag and El Qanah have entered as the three promoted teams from the Egyptian Second Division. Egyptian Premier League
The Egyptian Premier League ( ar, الدوري المصري الممتاز), also known as WE Egyptian Premier League (WE EPL) after the addition of title sponsor WE, is a professional association football league in Egypt and the top level of the Egyptian football league system. The league comprises 18 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Egyptian Second Division. Seasons mostly run from August to May. Unlike most other leagues, all games are played all over the week. The Egyptian Premier League was founded in 1948, unifying the local leagues that had existed previously. 70 clubs have competed in the league since its founding. Al Ahly have won the title 42 times, more than any other club. Their closest rivals, Zamalek, have won the league 14 times. Al Masry Sporting Club ( ar, النادي المصري للألعاب الرياضية) is an Egyptian sports club based in Port Said, Egypt. The club is mainly known for its professional football team, that competes in the Egyptian Premier League, the highest division of the Egyptian football league system. Al Masry has never won the league, but won their one Egyptian Cup in 1998. The club plays their home matches at the Port Said Stadium, with a capacity of 17,988.
