2001 Scottish Open (snooker)
The 2001 Regal Scottish Open was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place between 8–15 April 2001 at the AECC in Aberdeen, Scotland. It was the seventh and penultimate ranking event of the 2000/2001 season. Peter Ebdon won the title by defeating Ken Doherty 9–7 in the final. Regal (cigarette)
Regal is a British brand of cigarettes, currently owned and manufactured by Imperial Tobacco. History The coupon cigarette was originally released as Embassy Regal Filter in 1969. The brand became very popular and sold coupon cigarettes until around 1999. Classed as a "premium" brand cigarette, they are one of the most expensive cigarette products available in the United Kingdom. Regal are very popular in Scotland, Northern Ireland and in the north of England; further south Regal's sister brand Embassy is more popular. Regal is available in king size and regular filter size. Tony Drago
Tony Drago (born 22 September 1965) is a Maltese former professional snooker and pool player. Known for his speed around the table, during his snooker career he won two professional titles: the 1993 Strachan Challenge Event 3 and the 1996 Guangzhou Masters. He later switched his focus to pool and won the 2003 World Pool Masters beating Hsia Hui-kai 8–6 and the 2008 Predator International 10-ball Championship beating Francisco Bustamante 13–10. Ian McCulloch (born 28 July 1971) is an English former professional snooker player from Walton-Le-Dale, Preston, Lancashire. He is known for his ability to grind opponents down through protracted safety exchanges and disjointed breakbuilding. He compiled 105 century breaks in his career. Career McCulloch turned professional in 1992, and after steadily climbing up the rankings for many years, he reached the quarter-finals of a ranking event for the first time in the 1999 Welsh Open. Billy Snaddon
Billy Snaddon (born 7 July 1969) is a Scottish former professional snooker player. He reached the World Snooker Championship first round five times, but never progressed past this stage. He spent 5 seasons ranked among the game's top 32, peaking at No. 24 in 2000. Career Snaddon began life as a footballer, but turned to snooker after a hip disease ended his football career, turning professional in 1991. He reached the last sixteen of seven ranking events before finally reaching a quarter-final, in the 1998 Irish Open. Ryan Day (born 23 March 1980) is a Welsh professional snooker player. A prolific break-builder, he has compiled over 400 century breaks during his career, including two maximum breaks. Munraj Pal (born 21 April 1976) is an English former professional snooker player. Career Pal turned professional in 1995, but fell off the tour two years later in 1997. He re-qualified during the 1997/1998 season, but lost his professional status again in 2001; forced once more to enter qualifying tournaments in the 2001/2002 season, he competed on the tour for a third stint between 2002 and 2004. James Wattana
James Wattana (; born January 17, 1970, as วัฒนา ภู่โอบอ้อม ''Wattana Pu-Ob-Orm'', then renamed รัชพล ภู่โอบอ้อม ''Ratchapol Pu-Ob-Orm'' in 2003) is a Thai former professional snooker player. A professional between 1989 and 2008, and from 2009 to 2020, Wattana reached his highest ranking position – world number 3 – for the 1994–95 season. Michael Judge
Michael Judge (born 12 January 1975 in Dublin) is a professional snooker player from the Republic of Ireland. His best performance in a ranking event came in the 2004 Grand Prix, where he reached the semi-finals, and he reached his highest ranking, 24th, for the 2002–03 season. He returned to the professional tour having gained a two-year card at 2021 Q School. Career Judge qualified for the World Championship three times, his best performance coming in the 2001 tournament, after knocking Jimmy White out in qualifying and John Parrott in the first round, before being knocked out by fellow Dubliner Ken Doherty.
