2001 EAP Under-19 Cricket Trophy
The 2001 EAP Under-19 Cricket Trophy was a cricket tournament held in Fiji from 19–25 August 2001, during the 2001 international season. All matches were held in Nadi, Fiji, Nadi. Papua New Guinea Under-19 cricket team, Papua New Guinea won the tournament by defeating Hong Kong Under-19 cricket team, Hong Kong in the final, thus qualifying for the 2002 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, 2002 Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. Two PNG players, Frank Joseph (cricketer), Frank Joseph and Greg Baeau, led the tournament in runs and wickets, respectively. The only Century (cricket), century at the tournament was scored by a Fijian, Colin Rika. The tournament, featuring only three teams, was organised by ICC East Asia-Pacific (EAP), and was the inaugural edition of the EAP Under-19 Cricket Trophy, EAP Under-19 Trophy. ICC East Asia-Pacific
ICC East Asia-Pacific is the International Cricket Council region responsible for administration of the sport of cricket in East Asia and the Pacific area. The region was founded in 1996 with a regional office established in 1999. The area covered by the region includes two Test cricket, Test nations, four ICC associate members and five ICC affiliate nations. The region is headed by the Regional Development Manager, Andrew Faichney, based in Australia at the offices of Cricket Australia. The region is supported by the Australia national cricket team, Australian and New Zealand national cricket team, New Zealand cricket team and these are the only official Test cricket members in the region.
