Kenya's Joseph Ngolepus (entering as a pacemaker) won the men's race in 2:08:47 hours, while the women's race was won by Japan's Naoko Takahashi in a world record time of 2:19:46. The Association of Road Racing Statisticians is an independent, non-profit organization that collects, analyzes, and publishes statistics regarding road running races. The primary purpose of the ARRS is to maintain a valid list of world road records for standard race distances and to establish valid criteria for road record-keeping. Beverley Hartigan (née Nicholson, born 10 June 1967) is a female English former middle and long-distance runner. She won a bronze medal in the 1500 metres at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, twice won the AAA Championships 1500 m title (1987/89) and twice won the UK Championship 1500 m title (1988/92). She went on to finish sixth in the marathon at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
