2001 Armenian First League
The 2001 Armenian First League season started on 15 May and ended on November 10. FC Malatia from Yerevan became the league champions, and were promoted to the 2002 Armenian Premier League. Armavir, Armenia
Armavir ( hy, Արմավիր), is a town and urban municipal community located in the west of Armenia serving as the administrative centre of Armavir Province. It was founded in 1931 by the government of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic. As of the 2011 census, the population of the town is 29,319, declined from 46,900 reported at the 1989 census. Currently, the town has a population of 37,053 as per the 2019 official estimate. The town was known as Sardarabad before 1935, and Hoktemberyan from 1935 to 1995. Premier League * FC Armenicum, Karabakh Yerevan, Lori Vanadzor, and FC KotaykFC Armenicum were dissolved and yielded their place to the revived FC Pyunik. * Newly established Dinamo-2000 Yerevan are allowed to participate in the premier league without competing in the Armenian First League first. * On August 20, Araks Ararat FC was dissolved. The 2001 Armenian Cup was the tenth edition of the Armenian Cup, a football competition. In 2001, the tournament had 16 participants, none of which were reserve teams. Results First round The first legs were played on 7 and 8 April 2001. The second legs were played on 12 and 13 April 2001. Quarter-finals The first legs were played on 22 April 2001. Gyumri City Stadium ( hy, Գյումրիի քաղաքային մարզադաշտ) is an all-seater football stadium in Gyumri, Armenia. It is currently the home venue of the Armenian Premier League club FC Shirak of Gyumri. The current capacity of the stadium is 4,000 seats. History The stadium was built and opened in 1924 to become the first stadium in the modern history of Armenia. Ijevan ( hy, Իջևան) is a town and urban municipal community in Armenia serving as the administrative centre of the Tavush Province. It is located at the center of the region, at the foot of Ijevan ridge of Gugark Mountains, on the shores of Aghstev River.
