2000–01 IBLA Australia Season
The 2000–01 IBLA Australia season was the first season for the team. The team played in the one and only season of the International Baseball League of Australia's Development League, All games were held on the Gold Coast at Palm Meadows with some showcase games played at Carrara Oval. The team was made up of then current players on the Australia national baseball team. The team was coached by former Australian Baseball League player/coach of the Melbourne Monarchs and Australian Head Coach Jon Deeble with assistant Coaches Phil Dale of the former Melbourne Reds & Monarchs and Greg Jelks of the former Perth Heat. Regular season The regular season consisted of 43 games, All games were played at Palm Meadows with the exception of showcase games that were played at Carrara Oval. Gold Coast, Queensland
The Gold Coast is a coastal city in the state of Queensland, Australia, approximately south-southeast of the centre of the state capital Brisbane. Gavin Fingleson
Gavin Fingleson (born 5 August 1976) is a South African born-Australian switch-hitting former professional baseball player. Primarily a second baseman, he has also played designated hitter, third base, shortstop, and first base. Early life Fingelson is Jewish, and was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He and his family moved to Australia when he was 11 years old. He was named the Maccabi World Union Australian Sportsman of the Year three times, and was named NSW Jewish Sportsman of the Year six times. He played six years for Ku-Ring-gai Stealers Baseball Club youth teams as a teenager. College Fingleson went to Masada College, where he played a lot of baseball. Trent Durrington
Trent John Durrington (born 27 August 1975) is an Australian former professional baseball player. He is primarily a second baseman. In his years as a student, he attended The Southport School located in Gold Coast. Career After making his major league debut on 6 August 1999, with the Anaheim Angels, Durrington would also see action with Anaheim in the and seasons. Durrington signed with the Milwaukee Brewers as a free agent after the 2003 season expired, where he saw action in the and seasons. Justin Huber
Justin Patrick Huber (; born 1 July 1982) is an Australian former professional baseball player. A first baseman and outfielder, Huber has played in Major League Baseball, Nippon Professional Baseball, and the Australian Baseball League. Luke Prokopec
Kenneth Luke Prokopec (born 23 February 1978) is an Australian-born, right-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays. While with the Dodgers in 2000 and 2001, the tandem of Prokopec and fellow Australian Jeff Williams gained considerable popularity in the Los Angeles area. However, the attention was short lived, as both moved on to other franchises. Prokopec was traded to Toronto on 13 December 2001 with Chad Ricketts in exchange for César Izturis and Paul Quantrill. Prokopec's 2002 tenure with the Toronto Blue Jays was unsuccessful, as he went 2-9 and sustained a labral tear injury late in the season.
