2000–01 Borussia Dortmund Season
The 2000–01 season Borussia Dortmund began on 11 August 2000 with a Fußball-Bundesliga match against Hansa Rostock, and ended on 19 May 2001, last matchday of the Bundesliga, with a match against 1. FC Köln. In that season Borussia Dortmund became the first—and so far the only—publicly traded club on the German stock market. Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e. V. Dortmund, commonly known as Borussia Dortmund (), BVB (), or simply Dortmund (), is a German professional sports club based in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. It is best known for its men's professional football team, which plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system. The club have won eight league championships, five DFB-Pokals, one UEFA Champions League, one Intercontinental Cup, and one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. Founded in 1909 by eighteen football players from Dortmund, the football team is part of a large membership-based sports club with more than 145,000 members, making Borussia Dortmund the second largest sports club by membership in Germany. Christoph Metzelder
Christoph Tobias Metzelder (born 5 November 1980) is a German former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Most of his professional career, which was spent mostly at Borussia Dortmund, was blighted by injuries. He did manage, however, to appear 47 times for the Germany national team, representing the country at two World Cups and Euro 2008. Metzelder also played three seasons apiece for Real Madrid and Schalke 04, amassing Bundesliga totals of 178 matches and four goals over one full decade. Career Borussia Dortmund Metzelder was born in Haltern, North Rhine-Westphalia. In the summer of 2000 he signed with Borussia Dortmund from SC Preußen Münster, and he was an instant success. At the end of his first season in the Bundesliga he won his first cap for Germany, playing the second half of a 5–2 friendly win in Hungary on 15 August 2001. Jan-Derek Sørensen
Jan-Derek Sørensen (born 28 December 1971) is a Norwegian former professional Association football, footballer, who played as a right midfielder or right winger. He is currently the head coach in Bærum SK. Club career Sørensen was born in Oslo. His breakthrough came at FK Lyn, Lyn, where he played 49 league matches from 1991 to 1994. He later played for FK Bodø/Glimt, Bodø/Glimt from 1994 to 1997 and Rosenborg BK, Rosenborg from 1998 to 2000. After a spell with German team Borussia Dortmund from January 2001 to January 2003 (winning the Bundesliga title in 2001–02 Bundesliga, 2001–02 and reaching the 2002 UEFA Cup Final, final of the UEFA Cup in the same season), Sørensen returned to Lyn.
