The Austrian Football Bundesliga (german: Österreichische Fußball-Bundesliga, italic=no , "Austrian Football Federal League"), also known as Admiral Bundesliga for sponsorship reasons, is the top level of the Austrian football league system. The competition decides the Austrian national football champions, as well the country's entrants for the various European cups run by UEFA. Since Austria stayed in sixteenth place in the UEFA association coefficient rankings at the end of the 2015–16 season, the league gained its first spot for the UEFA Champions League for the 2016-2017 season. The Austrian Bundesliga, which began in the 1974–75 season, has been a separate registered association since 1 December 1991. It has been won the most by the two Viennese giants Austria Wien, who were national champions 24 times, and Rapid Wien, who won the national title 32 times. Igor Pamić (born 19 November 1969) is a Croatian former professional footballer and current manager. He made five appearances for the Croatia national team during his playing career. Playing career Club He was born in the village of Žminj in Istria and started his professional career at the club Istra Pula in early 1992. He left the club after two seasons for Dinamo Zagreb, where he spent another two seasons before moving to Osijek in July 1995. Herwig Drechsel (born 4 September 1973) is an Austrian retired professional association football player who played as a midfielder and current manager. In his career he made over 350 Bundesliga appearances and was called up several times for the national team, but never played for them. In 2012, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of SV Ried, he was named "Player of the Century". Geir Frigård (born 3 November 1970) is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played as a forward. He played five times for the Norway national team, scoring one goal. Ronald Brunmayr (born 17 February 1975) is an Austrian football manager and a former player who is assistant head coach at Eintracht Frankfurt. Christian Mayrleb (born 8 June 1972) is an Austrian retired professional footballer who is employed as the manager of Austrian side ASKÖ Donau Linz. Club career Born in Wels, Upper Austria, Mayrleb started his professional career at Second Division side Stahl Linz and SV Ried before joining Austrian Bundesliga outfit Admira/Wacker at the start of the 1994–95 season.
