Linda Hargrove (basketball)
Linda Hargrove (née Adams born April 2, 1950) is a retired basketball coach. Hargrove began coaching the women's basketball team at Cowley College from 1972 to 1989 before coaching the Wichita State Shockers women's basketball team from 1989 to 1998. As a college basketball coach, Hargrove had 429 wins and 248 losses between the 1970s and 1990s. In 1998, Hargrove went to the American Basketball League (1996–98), American Basketball League to coach the Colorado Xplosion for a year until the league closed. From 2000 to 2002, Hargrove had 37 wins and 59 losses as the head coach and general manager of the Portland Fire. After the Fire disbanded in 2002, Hargrove remained in the Women's National Basketball Association when she joined the Washington Mystics in 2003. Hargrove started as a scout for the Mystics before being named assistant coach in 2004 and general manager in 2005. The Seattle Storm are an American professional basketball team based in Seattle. The Storm competes in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) as a member club of the league's Western Conference. The team was founded by Ginger Ackerley and her husband Barry ahead of the 2000 season. Carolyn Jones-Young
Carolyn Jones-Young (born Carolyn Jones; July 29, 1969) is an American former professional women's basketball player. A 5'9" guard, she played for the New England Blizzard of the American Basketball League (1996–1998), and also played for the Portland Fire of the Women's National Basketball Association. She holds several ABL career records. College Carolyn Jones played for Auburn University, graduating in 1991. Jones led Auburn to the NCAA Final Four in both 1989 and 1990, losing in the final game both years. Jones was named to the NCAA All-tournament Team in 1990. Michele Van Gorp
Michele Van Gorp (born May 10, 1977) is a former professional basketball player in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), most recently with the Minnesota Lynx. Early career After attending Chippewa Valley High School in Clinton Township, Michigan, Van Gorp played collegiate basketball at Purdue University during her freshman and sophomore years, but transferred to Duke University alongside Nicole Erickson for her junior and senior years. She was the tallest woman to suit up in a Duke uniform. She led Duke to the school's first NCAA final, which took place in San Jose, and in which the Blue Devils were beaten 62-45 by Purdue. Portland Fire
The Portland Fire were a professional basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) based in Portland, Oregon that joined the league in 2000 as the counterpart to the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers. They played their games at the Rose Garden. The team folded after the 2002 season, after just three seasons in the league. They were the only WNBA team that had never made the playoffs. Lynn Pride
Lynn Pride (born October 16, 1978) is an American former collegiate and professional basketball player. Born in Vero Beach, Florida, she attended Sam Houston High School in Arlington, Texas, and during her senior year, she was ranked as one of the nation's top five players by ''Blue Star Report'' and was named an All-American by ''USA Today'', ''Street & Smith's'', and ''Parade Magazine''. Pride was named a High School All-American by the WBCA. She participated in the WBCA High School All-America Game in 1996. Pride attended college at University of Kansas and graduated in 2000. In the 2000 WNBA Draft, Pride was selected in the seventh overall pick by the Portland Fire. After the season, she was traded to the Minnesota Lynx and she played for the Lynx during the 2001, 2002, and part of the 2003 seasons.
