2000 PBA All-Filipino Cup
The 2000 PBA All-Filipino Cup or known as the 2000 Alaxan PBA All-Filipino Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the first conference of the 2000 PBA season. It started on February 20 and ended on June 11, 2000. The tournament is an All-Filipino format, which doesn't require an import or a pure-foreign player for each team. Format The following format will be observed for the duration of the conference: *The teams were divided into 2 groups. Group A: #Alaska Milkmen #Purefoods TJ Hotdogs #San Miguel Beermen # Sta. ''The PBA on Viva TV'' was a presentation of Philippine Basketball Association games on Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation by Viva Entertainment after the company absorbed Vintage Sports. History In late 1999, Vintage Television was bought by media giant Viva Entertainment. Prior to the acquisition, Vintage Television have signed a three-year broadcast deal with the PBA earlier that year worth 770 million pesos. They defeated GMA Network, in its bid to enter into the sports broadcasting scene following ABS-CBN's coverage of the then-existing Metropolitan Basketball Association. From 2000 to 2001, Viva TV broadcast PBA games on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays with out of town games covered on Saturdays either live, tape-delay or aired days later. PhilSports Arena
The Philippine Institute of Sports Multi-Purpose Arena or PhilSports Arena is an indoor sporting arena located inside the PhilSports Complex in Pasig, Philippines. It was formerly known as the University of Life Theater and Recreational Arena or the ULTRA. The arena is part of the PhilSports Complex which is maintained by the Philippine Sports Commission. It was the site of the majority of the games of the Philippine Basketball Association from 1985 to 1992 and from 1999 to 2002. The league still occasionally comes back to play at the arena. The arena was also the home court of the Pasig-Rizal Pirates in the Metropolitan Basketball Association in 1998 and the San Juan Knights in 1999. Boyet Fernandez
Teodorico "Boyet" Fernandez III is a Filipino former professional basketball player and the former head coach of the San Beda Red Lions in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) (NCAA). Playing career Fernandez first broke into public consciousness as a member of the highly touted 1991 Southeast Asian Games gold medal-winning team, where he was back-up to Johnny Abarrientos. Prior to that, he was part of the National Team that finished seventh in the Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC), forerunner of FIBA-Asia. He played college ball for Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod.
