Television In Spain
Television in Spain was introduced in 1956, when the national state-owned public service television broadcaster Televisión Española (TVE) started regular analog free-to-air terrestrial black and white broadcasts. Colour transmissions started in 1972 after two years of test transmissions, with all programming transmitted in color in 1977, and colour commercials starting in 1978. TVE held a monopoly on television broadcasting until regional public channels were launched during the 1980s and commercial television started nationwide in 1990. Digital terrestrial television was launched on 30 November 2005 with analog service discontinued on 3 April 2010. Currently, television is one of the leading mass media of the country, and by 2008 was in 99.7% of households in Spain according to INE statistics. Paz Padilla
María de la Paz Padilla Díaz (born 25 September 1969 in Cádiz) is a Spanish comedian, actress and presenter. After working as a clinical assistant in a Cádiz hospital, she became known in the comedy contest ''Saque bola'' (1989) on the regional Andalusian television channel Canal Sur. She later appeared in 1994 on the television comedy show ''Genio y Figura'' on Antena 3 (Spain), Antena 3. She then made several appearances on several shows in this channel. In 1996, she co-hosted the television charity special ''Inocente, Inocente''. Between 1997 and 1999, she worked for the late night show ''Crónicas marcianas'' on Telecinco. After that, she has worked for several television shows as a presenter. Héctor Alterio
Héctor Benjamín Alterio Onorato (born 21 September 1929) is an Argentine theatre, film and television actor, well known both in Argentina and Spain. Biography Alterio's theatre debut came in 1948 as the lead in ''Cómo suicidarse en primavera'' ("How to commit suicide in spring"). After finishing drama school, he created the ''Nuevo Teatro'' ("New Theatre") company in 1950, where he worked until 1968 and helped change the Argentine theatrical scene of the 1960s. He also worked in the Argentine cinema. His debut on the silver screen took place in Alfredo Mathé's ''Todo sol es amargo'' (''Every sun is bitter'') in 1965. He then participated in many of the most important Argentine movies of the 1970s, including ''La Patagonia rebelde'' (''The Rebel Patagonia''), which was awarded a Silver Bear at the 24th Berlin International Film Festival. David Meca
David Meca Medina (born 1 February 1974 in Sabadell) is a long distance swimmer from Spain, who has swum from mainland Spain to Ibiza among his exploits. He won gold at the 2005 FINA World Championships in Montreal for the men's open water 25 km. Meca took silver in the 5 km event at the 2000 World Championships in Hawaii. He also won silver in the 25 km competition and a bronze in the 10 km at the 2003 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona, Spain. Meca served a one-year ban on every competition and a four-year ban on championships following a positive test for nandrolone, a banned performance enhancer, in 1999. He was able to participate in World Championships in year 2000 because the sanction had not then been confirmed by the FINA. Fernando Argenta
Fernando Martín de Argenta Pallarés (4 July 1945 – 3 December 2013) was a Spanish writer, journalist, musician and presenter of radio and television. Born in Madrid, the son of conductor and pianist Ataúlfo Argenta, Argenta completed advanced studies in music at the Madrid Royal Conservatory, he combined activity with the Bachelor of Law from the Complutense University of Madrid. In his youth, he was a member of the rock band Micky and The Tonys, which he left in 1965 to fulfill the military service. In 1976, Argenta began working at Radio Nacional de España (RNE), the station that ran the program ''Popular Classics''. In 2003, 2004 and 2006, he was the commentator of RTVE in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest held in Copenhagen (Denmark), Lillehammer (Norway) and Bucharest (Romania), respectively. Inés Ballester
María Inés Ballester Muñoz (born 28 September 1958) is a Spanish journalist and presenter. Biography With a licentiate in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Inés Ballester started her career at Cadena SER, and later went on to the daily magazine of Radio Nacional de España. After a few years she made the leap to television, first at the territorial center of Televisión Española (TVE) in Valencia, as head of programs, and then on Nou and Telemadrid. After three years on Telemadrid, she was signed to Antena 3 in 1997. In 2001 she returned to TVE where she presented the morning program ', along with , for six seasons. Boris Rodolfo Izaguirre Lobo ( Caracas, 29 September 1965), better known as Boris Izaguirre, is a Venezuelan writer, TV host, screenwriter, journalist and showman. Career Izaguirre wrote the scripts of some of the Venezuelan telenovelas: ''Ruby'' and ''La dama de rosa''. After their success in Spain, he moved to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. Jesús Vázquez (television Presenter)
Jesús Vázquez Martínez (born 9 September 1965) is a Spanish television presenter. In 2008 he became the first Spaniard to be selected as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency. Biography Vázquez was born in Ferrol, Galicia. Canal+ (Spanish TV Channel)
Canal+ was a Spanish commercial television channel launched in September 1990 on terrestrial television frequencies. The channel was operated by Sogecable, before its eventual sale to Telefónica, and was available on the digital satellite television and IPTV platform Movistar+. In 1997, new channels using the Canal+ brand were launched in Spain, following the launch of Canal Satélite Digital. Just as on the other markets where Canal+ was present, the channels were named after colours: Canal+ Rojo (Canal+ Red) and Canal+ Azul (Canal+ Blue). A special channel broadcasting content in 16:9 aspect ratio was launched later, but it was replaced by a time-shift channel in 2001. Javier Nart Peñalver (born 19 August 1947) is a Spanish journalist and politician who has been a member of the European Parliament since 2014, currently taking part in the Renew Europe group. From 2012 until 2019, he was a member of Citizens (Spanish political party), Citizens (Cs).
