2000 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships
The 9th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships was held on November 12, 2000, in the city of Veracruz, Mexico. A total of 182 athletes, 121 men and 61 women, from 52 countries took part. World Athletics, formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation (from 1912 to 2001) and International Association of Athletics Federations (from 2001 to 2019, both abbreviated as the IAAF) is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, race walking, mountain running, and ultra running. Diego Alberto Colorado (born 31 August 1973 in Jardín, Antioquia) is a male long-distance runner from Colombia. He represented his country in the marathon at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics, taking 32nd place. He has won medals on the track over 10,000 metres, taking bronze at the 2005 South American Championships in Athletics and silver at the 2008 CAC Championships.
