Andrea Longo (born 26 June 1975 in Piove di Sacco) is a former Italian middle-distance runner. Biography He achieved his personal best just before Sydney Olympics, running 1'43"74 in Rieti in September 2000, reaching the second place in the all-time ranking in Italy, behind former world record holder Marcello Fiasconaro. He was disqualified from the 800 metres final at the 2000 Summer Olympics after barging Switzerland's André Bucher. He served a two-year ban from 2001 for testing positive for nandrolone. After his ban his best performances have been a 5th place at the 2003 World Championships and a 7th place at the 2006 European Athletics Championships, both in the 800m. He was also a semi-finalist at the 2004 Olympics. He is the European record holder for the rarely run 600m (1'14"41). He is the husband of Fabé Dia. Nils Schumann
Nils Schumann (; born 20 May 1978) is a former German athlete, winner of the 800 m at the 2000 Summer Olympics, who retired in 2009. For most of the five years before his retirement he had featured sparingly at an international level due to injuries. Schumann, born in Bad Frankenhausen, began his career as a footballer in 1984 before switching to athletics. He won a gold medal over 800 m at the 1998 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Valencia. At the European Championships in Budapest in the same year, he won the title in a close finish. A few weeks later he also won the 800 m race at the World Cup in Johannesburg. He also made the final of the 1999 World Athletics Championships, but placed 8th and last. He had a quiet 2000 season, until the Olympics started in Sydney. Schumann cruised through the preliminaries, easily qualifying for the final. Mehdi Baala ( ar, مهدي بعلة; born 17 August 1978 in Strasbourg) is a French, middle-distance runner competing mainly in the 1500 metres event. Baala has won several major international championships medals in the 1500 metres event – an Olympic Games bronze, a World Championships silver, two European Championships golds and a European Indoor Championships bronze. Bruno Wavelet (born 20 November 1974) is a French sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres. He was born in Dunkerque. He competed individually at the 1998 European Indoor Championships, the 2000 European Indoor Championships, and the 2001 Jeux de la Francophonie without reaching the final. He became French indoor champion in 1998. Competitors included Pierre-Marie Hilaire, Fred Mango and Marc Raquil. Anastasios "Tasos" Gousis ( el, Αναστάσιος "Τάσος" Γκούσης, born 7 July 1979) is a Greece, Greek sprint Athletics (sport), athlete. He was born in Corfu (city), Corfu. He competed in the 200 m and 400 m in the 2000 Olympics, but did not progress further from the heats in either event. At the 2004 Olympics he made the semi-finals in the 200 m and competed for Greece in the 4 × 400 m relay. He finished eighth in the 200 m final at the 2006 European Athletics Championships and at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics, 2007 World Championships. He was tested positive for methyltrienolone in his A-sample on 4 August 2008, before the 2008 Summer Olympics, and was called back to Greece, pending the results of his B-sample.
