2000 CFL Season
The 2000 CFL season is considered to be the 47th season in modern-day Canadian football, although it is officially the 43rd Canadian Football League season. CFL News in 2000 The CFL ends the 20th century on a continued upward curve. After the 1999 season, league attendance levels and television ratings continued to grow. Attendance around the league had an increase of 5.6%, which went over '98 season figures as 1,718,312 fans filled their teams' stadium. Meanwhile, TSN's television ratings also increased by 17.9% over their '98 season ratings. In 2000, CFL attendance and TSN television ratings continued to increase further going over the '99 season figures. CFL West Division
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the West Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The five teams in the West Division are the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Elks, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Ralph Lahquan Staten (born December 3, 1974) is a former American football linebacker and defensive back. He played college football at Alabama before being selected in the seventh round of the 1997 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He later also played for Edmonton Eskimos and Ottawa Renegades of the Canadian Football League (CFL). In the 1995 Alabama season, Staten had three interceptions including one against Ole Miss returned 61 yards for a touchdown. He was named to the 1996 All-SEC football team after a 12 sack season. Leo Groenewegen (born August 13, 1965) is a former all-star offensive lineman in the Canadian Football League. Terry Vaughn
Terry Vaughn (born December 25, 1971) is a former Canadian Football League receiver most recently with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In 2005, Terry Vaughn's 1113 receiving yards combined with those of his teammates (Kerry Watkins's 1364 yards, Ben Cahoon's 1067 yards, and Dave Stala's 1037 yards) as the 2005 Montreal Alouettes became only the second team in CFL history to achieve four players all having over 1,000 yards receiving in the same season (the first being the 2004 Alouettes). On July 14, 2006 Terry Vaughn became the all-time leader in receptions in the Canadian Football League, surpassing Darren Flutie's previous record of 973 receptions. Terry Ray (American Football)
Terry Ray (born October 12, 1969) is a Belgian-American former gridiron football safety and linebacker who played in both the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL) between 1992 and 2004. NFL career Ray was drafted out of the University of Oklahoma in the sixth round, 158th overall, by the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL in the 1992 NFL Draft. After playing in 10 games with Atlanta, Ray joined the New England Patriots and under new head coach Bill Parcells for the 1993 NFL season. Ray played with the Patriots until the 1996 NFL season, a season in which the Patriots lost to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXI. CFL career Ray left the NFL after the 1996 season. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional Canadian football team based in Regina, Saskatchewan.
