2000 British Rally Championship Season
The 2000 Mobil 1 British Rally Championship was won by Finland's Marko Ipatti in a Group N Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 6 ahead of Vauxhall drivers Mark Higgins and Neil Wearden. The 1600cc category championship was won by Proton's Mats Andersson with the Group N title going to Gavin Cox. This was the last year that the championship ran to the F2 regulations. British Rally Championship
The British Rally Championship is a rallying series based in the United Kingdom. The first championship was run in 1958 and it has been licensed by the Motor Sports Association (MSA) since 1999. MSA has opted not to run the series in 2015, instead giving its promotion to its own subsidiary (IMS) for 2016. Champions British Rally Championship *In 2000, Ipatti used both Kari Kajala and Teppo Leino as co-drivers during the season. Hence, runner-up Mark Higgins' co-driver Bryan Thomas was awarded the co-drivers title. Two similar situations occurred in 2004 & 2008. The Hyundai Tiburon ( ko, 현대 티뷰론) known in Europe as the Hyundai Coupé (현대 쿠페) is a sports coupe that was produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai from 1996 to 2008. The name "Tiburon", a slight variation of "tiburón", the Spanish word for "shark", is the name given to the North American, Australian, New Zealand, South African, and Austrian production of the vehicle. It was known as the Hyundai Coupe in some European markets and Indonesia. It had been branded as the Tuscani (투스카니) and Turbulence (터뷸런스) in the home South Korean market. David Higgins (rally Driver)
David Higgins (born 14 November 1972 on the Isle of Man) is a Manx rally driver. He is an 8-time Rally America champion and a 2-time ARA Champion with Subaru Motorsports USA. Early and personal life Born on the Isle of Man but living in Trefeglwys near Llanidloes, Powys, Wales his brother Mark is also a rally and stunt driver. Higgins started motorcycle trials aged 8, and aged 10 he moved into the UK national kart racing circuit, winning seven titles against drivers including later Formula 1 driver David Coulthard. Justin Dale (born May 28, 1971) is a rally driver and driver trainer from Winchester, Hampshire, England. Dale started rallying in 1992 at the Peugeot Rally Challenge, driving a Peugeot 205 GTi. In 1996 Dale entered the British Rally Championship with co-driver Andrew Bargery for Peugeot Sport, finishing third overall. He continued to drive for Peugeot in the British Rally Championship through the 2000 season until 2001 when no season was held. The Peugeot 106 is a supermini produced by French automaker Peugeot between 1991 and 2003. Launched in September 1991, it was Peugeot's entry level offering throughout its production life, and was initially sold only as a three door hatchback, with a five door hatchback joining the range in the beginning of 1992.
