2. Oberliga Süd
The 2. Oberliga Süd was the second-highest level of the German football league system in the south of Germany from 1950 until the formation of the Bundesliga in 1963. It covered the three states of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Hesse. Overview The 2. Oberliga Süd was formed in 1950 as a feeder league to the Oberliga Süd which had been operating since 1945. It was the second of the three second Oberligas, the other two being 2. Oberliga West (1949) and 2. Oberliga Südwest (1951). The winners and runners-up of this league were promoted to the Oberliga Süd, the bottom two teams relegated to the Amateurligas. The ESV Ingolstadt is a general sports club in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, formed on 15 February 1919. Until 2004, the club operated a football department but after a merger with local rival MTV Ingolstadt to form FC Ingolstadt 04 the footballers left for the new club. The FC Singen 04 is a German association football club from the city of Singen, Baden-Württemberg. Established 4 August 1904. the club merged with Fußball-Club Radolfzell in 1908 to form FC Radolfzell-SIngen. That union was ended on 10 March 1910 and in 1917 04 was joined by Sportclub Singen. History FCS 04 won its first title in 1923, taking the championship in the Bezirksliga Ost, and in 1930 it won the Schwarzwaldliga, but could not find its way to the highest level of play in the Bezirksliga Württemberg-Baden. In 1933, German football was reorganized under the Third Reich into 16 top flight Gauligen and in 1939 FSC attempted to qualify for the Gauliga Baden but were beaten by VfR Achern (2–3, 5–3). FC Hanau 93 is a German association football club based in Hanau, Hesse. History Early history Founded in 1893, the club is Hesse's oldest. In its first year, the club was winless in a half dozen matches, but the next season emerged as south German champion and earned an appearance in a national championship match. Hanau was one of the founding clubs of the German Football Association formed in 1900. In those early days of German football Hanau laid a 23–1 drubbing on a hopelessly green Kickers Offenbach side. SV Viktoria 01 Aschaffenburg is a German football club based in Aschaffenburg, Bavaria. Even though Aschaffenburg is located in Bavaria, Viktoria Aschaffenburg historically played its football in the Hessenliga (V) and the associated Hessian leagues, rather than the Bayernliga (V), against clubs from closer, neighbouring cities.
