Alpha Ethniki
The Super League Greece 1 ( el, Ελληνική Σούπερ Λιγκ 1), or Super League 1, is the highest professional association football league in Greece. The league was formed on 16 July 2006 and replaced ''Alpha Ethniki'' at the top of the Greek football league system. It consists of 14 teams and runs from August to May, with teams playing 26 games. As of May 2022, Super League Greece is ranked 15th in the UEFA ranking of leagues, based on performances in European competitions over the last five years. Since the foundation of the first official Panhellenic Championship in 1927, only six clubs have won the title. The current champions are Olympiacos, based in Piraeus. Andreas Michalopoulos
Andreas Michalopoulos ( el, Ανδρέας Μιχαλόπουλος; 23 February 1948 – 4 January 2022) was a Greek footballer who played as a striker for Panachaiki. Career He played for Panachaiki when the team qualified for the 1973–74 UEFA Cup. Before the 1973–74 UEFA Cup game against Grazer AK, an injury seemed to put an early end to his career. Michalopoulos managed to help his team some more years, but he only played 48 games in five seasons until 1979, when he officially retired. He appeared once for the Greece national team, on 21 February 1973 against Spain. Greece lost 3–1 in the World Cup qualification match. Nikos Goumas Stadium
Nikos Goumas Stadium ( el, Στάδιο Νίκος Γκούμας) was a multi-purpose stadium in Nea Filadelfeia, a northwestern suburb of Athens, Greece. It was used mostly for football matches and was the home stadium of AEK Athens F.C. It is now replaced by Agia Sophia Stadium built at the same site. Name The stadium was named "AEK Stadium" ( el, Γήπεδο ΑΕΚ) but was also known as "Nea Filadelfeia Stadium" ( el, Στάδιο Νέας Φιλαδέλφειας). In 1991 it was officially named "Nikos Goumas Stadium" after former club president Nikos Goumas, who contributed to its building and later upgrading. Giannis Pathiakakis
Giannis Pathiakakis ( el, Γιάννης Παθιακάκης; 15 June 1953 – 8 February 2002) was a Greek professional footballer who played as a midfielder and a later manager. After his death the stadium of Akratitos was named Yiannis Pathiakakis Stadium in his honour. Club career Pathiakakis started his football career in Apollon Athens, where he played from 1971 to 1977. He then played for one year in PAOK and in 1978 he was transferred to Nea Smyrni, in Panionios. In the three years he played in Panionios he was particularly productive. He was a key contributor to the progress of the Nea Smyrni club to winning the Greek Cup in 1979. He scored in both matches against Aris in the quarter-finals, as well as against Olympiacos in the semi-finals.
