Ralph Willard
Ralph Daniel Willard (born March 28, 1946) is an American former basketball coach. He served as the head men's basketball coach at Western Kentucky University from 1990 to 1994, the University of Pittsburgh from 1994 to 1999, and the College of the Holy Cross from 1999 to 2009, compiling a career college basketball coaching record of 336–241. Willard was also an assistant athletic director at Holy Cross. Career After graduating from Holy Cross, Willard was drafted to the United States Army. Willard finished basic training when negotiations began for the Paris Peace Accords, so Willard was reassigned to Fort Benning instead of being sent overseas to Vietnam. At Fort Benning, Willard assisted soldiers receiving treatment for wartime injuries with paperwork. James Patrick Christian (born February 6, 1965), known professionally as Jim Christian, is an American college basketball coach (sport), coach who most recently served as the head coach of the Boston College Eagles men's basketball, Boston College men's basketball team. He previously held the same position at Kent State Golden Flashes men's basketball, Kent State, Texas Christian Horned Frogs men's basketball, TCU and Ohio Bobcats men's basketball, Ohio. Troy Weaver (born June 13, 1968) is an American basketball executive. He is the current general manager for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Early life Weaver attended Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington, D.C. He then attended Prince George's Community College, where he played one season of basketball in 1991. Coaching career Prior to his collegiate coaching career, Weaver co-founded the DC Assault of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in 1993. He served as the coach of DC Assault from 1993 to 1996, where he amassed an 85–17 record, and helped lead the team to the 1996 AAU Tournament of Champions. Fitzgerald Field House is a 4,122-seat multi-purpose athletic venue on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Fitzgerald Field House is named for Rufus Fitzgerald, a past chancellor (1945–1955) of the university. The 1998–99 NCAA Division I men's basketball season concluded in the 64-team 1999 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament whose finals were held at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Connecticut Huskies earned their first national championship by defeating the Duke Blue Devils 77–74 on March 29, 1999. They were coached by Jim Calhoun and the NCAA basketball tournament Most Outstanding Player was Richard Hamilton. In the 32-team 1999 National Invitation Tournament, the defeated the Clemson Tigers at the Madison Square Garden in New York City. Following the season, the 1999 NCAA Men's Basketball All-American Consensus First team included Elton Brand, Mateen Cleaves, Richard Hamilton, Andre Miller and Jason Terry.
