Czech First League
The Czech First League, known as the Fortuna liga for sponsorship reasons, is a Czech professional league for football clubs. At the top of the Czech football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Seasons typically run from August to May, most games are played on Saturdays and Sundays with few games played on Fridays. All Fortuna liga clubs qualify for the Czech Cup. The history of the Czech football league began with its reorganization for the 1993–94 season following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia and therefore the league became the successor of the Czechoslovak League. Thirty-five clubs have competed in the Fortuna liga since its founding. Sparta Prague has won the title 12 times, the most among Czech clubs. Other clubs that were crowned as champions are Slavia Prague, Slovan Liberec, Baník Ostrava and Viktoria Plzeň, who are the reigning champions. SFC Opava
Slezský FC Opava is a professional football club based in Opava, Czech Republic. The club plays in the Czech National Football League, the second of Czech football after being relegated from the Czech First League at the end of the 2020–21 season. History The club was in the Czech First League at the top tier of Czech football from 1995 to 2000, getting relegated in 2000 but returning to the top flight the following season in 2001. After another relegation they returned again in 2003 and had a two-year spell in the top division, but internal issues led to a slow decline of the club and relegation to the regional division. FK Jablonec
FK Jablonec () is a Czech professional football club based in Jablonec nad Nisou. The club has played in the top league of Czech football, Czech First League, since 1994. History Jablonec played its first season of top league football in the 1974–75 Czechoslovak First League, remaining in the top league for two seasons before relegation in 1976. FC Hradec Králové
FC Hradec Králové is a Czech football club based in the city of Hradec Králové. The club, which was founded in 1905, won the Czechoslovak First League in the 1959–60 season. The club currently plays in the Czech First League. Following their domestic success, Hradec played in the 1960–61 European Cup and was eliminated by Barcelona in the quarter-finals, Barcelona eventually becoming runners-up. FK Drnovice
1. FK Drnovice was a Czech football club based in the Moravian village of Drnovice near Vyškov, founded in 1932. The club played in the top flight of Czech football, the Czech First League, between 1993 and 2002, and again in the 2004/05 season. Because of financial trouble, the club ceased to exist in 2006. Drnovice now hosts a small club FKD currently playing regional division. FK Chmel Blšany was a Czech football club based in the village of Blšany. The club played in the Czech First League between 1998 and 2006 and was the first professional club of goalkeeper Petr Čech. The club disbanded in 2016 after resigning from the 2016-17 regional championship (5th tier of the Czech Republic football league system). The club was established as Sokol Blšany in 1946. AFK Atlantic Lázně Bohdaneč
AFK Atlantic Lázně Bohdaneč was a Czech football club from the town of Lázně Bohdaneč, which played one season in the Czech First League. It was founded in 1918. Bohdaneč won promotion to the country's top flight, the Czech First League, after finishing second in the 1996–97 Czech 2. Liga. The club subsequently featured in the 1997–98 Czech First League, finishing bottom of the league and winning only two of their thirty matches. During a 1999 Czech 2. Liga away match against Prostějov, club owner Jiří Novák ordered his players to walk off the pitch, with 43 minutes played and the score 2–1 to the hosts, citing the poor performance of referee Michal Paták as the reason.
