1998 UCI Track Cycling World Championships
The 1998 UCI Track Cycling World Championships were the World Championship for track cycling. They took place in Bordeaux, France from August 26 to August 30, 1998. Twelve events were contested, eight for the men and four for the women. France dominated most of the events, taking home half of the gold medals on offer. Francis Moreau
Francis Moreau (born 21 July 1965) is a French former professional racing cyclist from Saint-Quentin. He turned professional in 1989 and retired 12 years later at the end of 2000. A pursuit specialist, Moreau was a frequent medalist and the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, winning the pursuit in 1991. He was also part of the gold medal winning team at the 1996 Summer Olympics, who set a new Olympic record with a time of 4:05:930. On the road, Moreau finished 132nd at the 1991 Tour de France and 113th in 1994 - despite the death of his father on 9 July; his father had said that he would not want his son to drop out in mourning. In 1995 he finished 5th in the Grand Prix de Plumelec-Morbihan and came 9th in the 1996 Paris–Roubaix. Christian Lademann
Christian Lademann (born 30 October 1975, Blankenburg) is a former German professional racing cyclist. Lademann became world champion at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in 1999 in the team pursuit with the German team, a year after they had become Military World Champions and Vice World Champions. On the road he already won the Tour of Tunisia as an amateur at the age of 18 and in 1999 a stage of the Tour of Rheinland Palatinate. In 2000 he rode for Agro-Adler Brandenburg winning two stages of the Tour of Chile and a stage in both the Tour of Argentina and the Tour of Lower Saxony.
