1997 Sudirman Cup
The 1997 Sudirman Cup was the fifth tournament of the World Mixed Team Badminton Championships. It was held from May 19 to May 25, 1997 in Glasgow, Scotland. Results 59 teams competed in this edition of Sudirman Cup. Nigeria, Morocco, Turkmenistan, Uganda and Zambia also entered, but ultimately did not participate. Sudirman Cup
The Sudirman Cup is an international badminton mixed team competition contested by member countries of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every two years since the inaugural tournament in 1989. It used to be held at the same venue for the World Championships in the same year until the International Badminton Federation (now the BWF) decided to split the two tournaments starting from 2003. There are five matches in every Sudirman Cup tie which consists of men and women's singles, men and women's doubles and mixed doubles. The cup is named after Dick Sudirman, a former Indonesian badminton player and the founder of the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI). The current champion is China, which won its 12th title at the 2021 tournament in Finland. Chris Hunt (badminton)
Christopher John Hunt (born 1 December 1968) is a retired badminton player from England. Who has won many commonwealth titles. Personal life Chris Hunt was born on 1 December 1968 in Bolton, England. He has one brother. In 2000 he met Liza Giambattista. In 2007 Hunt had a daughter called Gabriella Giambattista-Hunt. Then in 2018 Hunt and Giambattista got married after 18 years of being together. Career Hunt won the gold medal at the European Championships in the men's doubles with Simon Archer in 1994 and 1998. In 1996 they won the bronze medal. Kang Kyung-jin
Kang Kyung-jin (Hangul: 강경진; Hanja: 姜京珍; born 24 March 1973) is a former badminton player and coach from South Korea. He was the men's doubles champion at the 1997 All England Open and 1998 Asian Championships. He competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Early life The left-handler Kang Kyung-jin, began to play badminton when he was in the third grade of Dongdaegu Elementary School, recognized by his teacher who is also a badminton coach in a club. In the beginning, he wants to be a baseball player, following his father who was also a baseball player. Ha Tae-kwon
Ha Tae-kwon (; born 30 April 1975) is a badminton player from South Korea. Born in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, Ha started his career in badminton with the recommendation of Kim Dong-moon in elementary school. He made his international debut in 1992, and won his first Grand Prix title at the 1995 Canada Open. Ha three times competed in Olympic Games in 1996, 2000 and 2004, won a bronze medal in 2000 and a gold medal in 2004. Darren James Hall (born 25 October 1965) is an English retired badminton player who is generally rated as one of the best men's singles players that England has produced and holds the record of 10 National singles titles. Kim Dong-moon (Hangul: 김동문, Hanja: 金東文; born 22 September 1975) is a retired South Korean badminton player who won major titles between the mid-1990s and the mid-2000s (decade), and widely regarded as one of finest men's doubles and mixed doubles players in badminton history. Kim captured the world attention when he unexpectedly winning the gold medal in the mixed doubles event with Gil Young-ah at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. On his path to greatness, he won gold medals both in men's and mixed doubles at the 1999 World Championships. Donna Kellogg
Donna Victoria Kellogg, (born 20 January 1978) is an English former badminton player. She is the European Champion, winning the women's doubles titles in 2000, 2006 and the mixed doubles title in 2008. She won the silver medal at the 2006 World Championships. Kellogg also won the women's doubles title at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, and was part of the England winning team at the 1998 and 2002 Commonwealth Games.
