The 1997 FIBA Africa Championship for Women was the 14th FIBA Africa Championship for Women, played under the rules of FIBA, the world governing body for basketball, and the FIBA Africa thereof. The tournament was hosted by Kenya from December 12 to 20, 1997. The Senegal women's national basketball team is the national basketball team representing Senegal at world and continental basketball competitions for women. It is administered by the Fédération Sénégalaise de Basket-Ball. The Senegalese squad won 11 continental championships, as many as all other competitors combined.
