Australian Super Touring Championship
The Australian Super Touring Championship (formerly known as the Australian 2.0 Litre Touring Car Championship) was a CAMS-sanctioned national motor racing title for Super Touring Cars. History Super Touring was introduced into Australia in 1993 when CAMS replaced the existing Group 3A Touring Car category (which had been based on FIA Group A rules) with a new two-class Group 3A. This encompassed both 2.0 Litre FIA Class II Touring Cars and 5.0 Litre Touring Cars, which would later become known as Super Touring Cars and V8 Supercars respectively. In their first year, the Class II cars were eligible to compete in both the Australian Touring Car Championship and in their own Australian 2.0 Litre Touring Car Championship which was run with the main series. This revived a name that had been used in 1986 & 1987 for a national title series for 2.0 Litre “Group A” Touring Cars. For 1994 the Class II cars contested their own separate series, the 1994 Australian Manufacturers' C ...

Hyundai Elantra
The Hyundai Elantra, also known as the Hyundai Avante ( ko, 현대 아반떼), is a compact car produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 1990. The Elantra was initially marketed as the ''Lantra'' in Australia and some European markets. In Australia, this was due to the similarly named Mitsubishi Magna Elante model; similarly, in other markets, the name Avante is not used due to its similarity with Audi's "Avant" designation, which is used for their line-up of station wagons. The name was standardized as "Elantra" worldwide in 2001 (except in South Korea and Singapore). First generation (J1; 1990) Launched in October 1990, the Elantra (codename ''J1'') received a mid-term facelift in 1993. It was sold in Europe from the spring of 1991. It replaced the somewhat larger on the outside Stellar, although that model had not been offered in many markets. The Elantra competed with the likes of the Ford Sierra and Vauxhall Cavalier/ Opel Vectra, but at a considera ...

Johnson's best season result was in 2001, where he led the championship for two rounds and took two round wins, including the Canberra round win, where he recorded victory from pole position in the first race, before finishing the rest of the races in the top five. Near season's end, he dropped to fifth, still his best ever effort. Then came a period he would rather forget, finishing the 2002 and 2003 seasons well outside the top ten. He improved to tenth in the 2004 season. He was looking for a top five in 2005, but had a poor Bathurst 1000 to place him outside the top ten. In 2007, Johnson recorded his best Bathurst 1000 result with a podium finish in third after leading late in the drama-charged closing laps as intermittent rain swept acro ...
