1997 Arab Cup Winners' Cup
The 1997 Arab Cup Winners' Cup was the eight edition of the Arab Cup Winners' Cup held in Ismailia, Egypt between 15 – 25 August 1997. The teams represented Arab nations from Africa and Asia. MC Oran from Algeria won the final against Al-Shabab from Saudi Arabia. It was decided on first that Al-Ansar will organized and hosts the eight edition in Beyrouth, Lebanon from 14 to 24 August 1997 and Olympique Khouribga will participate as the holders. However it's Al-Ismaily who hosts the tournament in Ismailia. Ismailia
Ismailia ( ar, الإسماعيلية ', ) is a city in north-eastern Egypt. Situated on the west bank of the Suez Canal, it is the capital of the Ismailia Governorate. The city has a population of 1,406,699 (or approximately 750,000, including surrounding rural areas). It is located approximately halfway between Port Said to the north and Suez to the south. The Canal widens at that point to include Lake Timsah, one of the Bitter Lakes linked by the Canal. History Ismailia was founded in 1863, during the construction of the Suez Canal, by Khedive Isma'il Pasha, Ismail the Magnificent, after whom the city is named. Olympique Club de Khouribga, also called OCK, is a Moroccan football club based in Khouribga. History The club was founded in 1923 and is considered one of the oldest clubs in Morocco. The club first entered the first division of the Moroccan league in the 1982–1983 season. Bassala Touré (born 21 February 1976) is a Malian former footballer who played at both professional and international levels as a midfielder. Career Born in Bamako, Touré began his career with hometown club Stade Malien, before moving to Morocco to play with Kawkab Marrakech. After a spell in Kuwait with Al-Arabi, Touré spent twelve seasons in Greece, playing for Athinaikos, Kerkyra, Levadiakos and Ilioupoli. Al-Wehdat Sport Club ( ar, نادي الوحدات الرياضي}) is a Jordanian sport club founded in 1956. The club is based in and represents the Amman New Camp, a Palestinian refugee camp which is also known as Al-Wehdat. Al-Wehdat's home games are played at King Abdullah II Stadium (cap. 13,265). Al-Merrikh Sporting Club ( ar, نادي المريخ الرياضي) is a Sudanese football club based in Omdurman. Their home stadium is Al-Merrikh Stadium, which is locally known as The Red Castle. Founded in 1908, Al-Merrikh is one of the oldest football clubs in Africa, and have won the Sudan Premier League 16 times and Sudan Cup 14 times.
