During the 1996–97 season, Tottenham Hotspur participated in the FA Premier League. Season summary For two seasons running, Tottenham narrowly missed out on a UEFA Cup place. 1996–97 could have been the season when Gerry Francis finally got it right and secured either a top-five finish or victory in one of the cups, but early exits from the FA Cup and Coca-Cola Cup ended their chances of a Wembley final, and a 10th-place finish in the final table was the club's lowest since Francis took over in November 1994. This disappointment saw the manager's future thrown into serious doubt, with fans calling for him to be dismissed. Allan Nielsen (born 13 March 1971) is a Danish former professional footballer whose most notable period of football was four years at English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur with whom he won the 1999 League Cup, scoring the winning goal. He was also an integral part of the Denmark national team from 1996 to 2001, playing a total of 44 matches and scoring seven goals. Euclid Aklana Wilson (born 13 November 1961) is an English former professional footballer who played in midfield and at left-back. Rory Allen (born 17 October 1977) is an English former professional footballer. He now works for the Civil Service.
