1996–97 England Hockey League Season
The 1996–97 English Hockey League season took place from October 1996 until April 1997. The Men's National League was won by Reading with the Women's National League going to Slough. The Men's Hockey Association Cup was won by Teddington and the AEWHA Cup was won by Ipswich. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League. League Finals Weekend The top four Premier Division teams from the regular season qualify for the League Finals Weekend. Clifton Hockey Club
Clifton Robinsons Hockey Club is a field hockey club based at Westbury-on-Trym in Bristol. It was formed by the merging of Clifton Ladies Hockey Club and Robinsons Hockey Club. The clubs had shared close links for many years, sharing pitches, umpires, coaches and annual dinners and in summer 2016 joined to form a single club. Mark Pearn
Mark Pearn (born 21 March 1977 in Bristol, England) is a male retired English field hockey player. Hockey career Pearn was a member of the England and Great Britain squads, making his debut for England against the Netherlands in the 1995 Champions Trophy in Berlin. He scored his first international goal against India in the tournament to become the youngest player to score for England at just 18 years old. He participated in two Summer Olympics in 2000 and 2004, as well as in the 1998 Men's Hockey World Cup, the 2002 Men's Hockey World Cup, the 1998 Commonwealth Games and the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Pearn was voted UK Player of the Year by members of the Hockey Writers' Club twice, in 2000 and 2011. He initially retired in 2005 but returned to international hockey in 2011 at the age of 34 to challenge for a place in the 2012 London Olympic Games. James Wallis (born 13 June 1974 in London, Greater London) is a male former English field hockey midfielder. Hockey career Wallis was a member of the British squad that finished ninth at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Wallis was also a member of ''Team GB'' at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
