Central Hockey League
The Central Hockey League (CHL) was a North American mid-level minor professional ice hockey league which operated from 1992 until 2014. It was founded by Ray Miron and Bill Levins and later sold to Global Entertainment Corporation, which operated the league from 2000 to 2013, at which point it was purchased by the individual franchise owners. As of the end of its final season in 2014, three of the 30 National Hockey League teams had affiliations with the CHL: the Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Several teams of defunct leagues joined the CHL along its history, including the Southern Hockey League, Western Professional Hockey League and International Hockey League. After two teams suspended operations during the 2014 offseason, the ECHL accepted the remaining seven teams as members in October 2014, meaning the end for the CHL after 22 seasons. San Antonio Iguanas
The San Antonio Iguanas were a minor league professional ice hockey team based in San Antonio, Texas. The first expansion team in the Central Hockey League, they were active for seven seasons from 1994–1997 and 1998–2002. Their home arena was the Freeman Coliseum. Bill Goldsworthy initially coached the team but stepped down for health reasons after only ten games. John Torchetti took over coaching duties, leading the Iguanas to the CHL finals in both of their first two years. Joe Burton
Joe Burton (born ), is a retired Americans, American professional ice hockey player, most notably for the Oklahoma City Blazers (1992–2009), Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League. He is not only the career leader in almost every major statistical category for the Blazers, but the all-time leading goals and points scorer in CHL history, and one of the leading goal scorers in minor league hockey history. Career Burton played college hockey for the University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines, a Division I American Collegiate Hockey Association program below the level of major NCAA collegiate hockey. Luc Beausoleil
Luc Beausoleil (born October 8, 1967) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Junior career Beausoleil played junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Laval Voisins and Laval Titan. He was awarded the 1986–87 Frank J. Selke Memorial Trophy as the QMJHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player and was named to the 1986–87 Second All-Star Team. Professional career Beausoleil began his professional career in 1988 with the Murrayfield Racers of the British Hockey League (BHL). He also played in the BHL with the Fife Flyers and Swindon Wildcats, and in France, before returning to North America in 1992 to join the Tulsa Oilers of the new Central Hockey League (CHL).
