Zagreb (horse)
Zagreb (14 May 1993 – 8 April 2013) was an American-bred, Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. His racing career consisted of only four races as a three-year-old in 1996 and was highlighted by a six length win in the Irish Derby. After his retirement from racing he had some success as a sire of winners in Japan. Background Zagreb was a dark bay horse standing 16.2 hands high with no white markings bred in Kentucky by his owner Allen Paulson. He was sired by Theatrical, an Irish-bred horse who won the Breeders' Cup Turf and was named American Champion Male Turf Horse in 1987. At stud he sired several other major winners including Royal Anthem. Zagreb's dam, Sophonisbe was a half-sister to the Breeders' Cup Mile winner Steinlen and closely related to many other major winners including Sagace and Stacelita. Sylvain Guillot
Sylvain Guillot (born 1972) is a French jockey. He is married to the sister of fellow jockey Yannick Fouin and has one son, Thomas. For three years from about 1987, Guillot did an apprenticeship with Jean-François Daubin at Maisons-Laffitte. In 1990, he joined Jean-Paul Gallorini's stable and won 15 races on the flat and eight over the jumps. Guillot's greatest successes came in 1994 when he won the Grand Critérium at Longchamp on Goldmark and, just two weeks later, the Champion Stakes at Newmarket, riding Dernier Empereur. In 1995, he won the Prix Jacques Le Marois while riding Miss Satamixa, the Grosser Preis der Badischen Wirtschaft on Freedom Cry, and the Oaks d'Italia on Valley of Gold. Gérald Mossé
Gérald Mossé (born 3 January 1967 in France) is a jockey in thoroughbred horse racing. He began riding professionally in April 1983 and his success during his apprenticeship under Patrick-Louis Biancone led to an offer to ride for renowned trainer François Boutin and his stable of horses belonging to Jean-Luc Lagardère. Mossé went on to become one of his country's top jockeys, winning the 1990 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. In 1991, he rode Arazi to five straight wins in France then spent 1992 and part of 1993 racing in Hong Kong. From 1993 to late 2001, Gérald Mossé was the principal rider for the horses belonging to the Aga Khan IV. Geoff Wragg
Geoff Wragg (9 January 1930 – 15 September 2017) was a Thoroughbred horse trainer who trained champion horses such as Teenoso and Pentire. He was the son of former jockey and trainer Harry Wragg, from whom he took over the licence at Abington Place, Newmarket in 1983 upon his father's retirement. Wragg retired in 2008 after 25 years of training and sold Abington Place to Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum the following spring. He relocated to Yorkshire, the birthplace of his late father, Harry Wragg. He died in 2017. Pentire (12 April 1992 – 20 November 2017) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. Background Pentire was bred by Lord Halifax, he was purchased for 54,000 guineas by Mollers Racing, the racing stable Trust of brothers Eric and Budgie Moller. William Haggas
William Haggas is a British Thoroughbred racehorse trainer, based at Somerville Lodge stables in Newmarket, Suffolk. He is the son-in-law of the multiple champion jockey Lester Piggott. He was educated at Harrow and played cricket at Lord's for Harrow against Eton in 1977, 1978 and 1979, captaining the side in the 1979 match. He started his working life in his father's textile factory, but quit after three months and headed to Newmarket. Before taking out a licence in his own right, he learnt his trade with John Winter and Mark Prescott. He trained his first winner in 1987. As of June 2013, he had trained two British Classic winners – Shaamit, winner of the 1996 Derby, and Dancing Rain, winner of the 2011 Oaks.
