1996 NatWest Trophy
The 1996 NatWest Trophy was the 16th NatWest Trophy. It was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 25 June and 7 September 1996. The tournament was won by Lancashire County Cricket Club who defeated Essex County Cricket Club by 129 runs in the final at Lord's. Format The 18 first-class counties, were joined by eleven Minor Counties: Berkshire, Cambridgeshire, Cheshire, Cornwall, Cumberland, Devon, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Oxfordshire, Staffordshire and Suffolk. Test And County Cricket Board
The Test and County Cricket Board (TCCB) was the governing body for Test and county cricket in Great Britain between 1968 and 1996. The TCCB was established in 1968 to replace the functions of the Board of Control for Test Matches (established in 1898) and the Advisory County Cricket Committee (1904) which had been set up by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) to administer Test cricket in England and the County Championship respectively. In order to be eligible for government funding through the Sports Council, cricket needed an independent governing body and the representatives from the TCCB, together with representatives from MCC and the National Cricket Association (NCA), formed a new Cricket Council, initially known as the MCC Council. Devon County Cricket Club
Devon County Cricket Club (Devon Cricket) is one of 20 minor county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Devon. The team is currently a member of the National Counties Championship Western Division Two and plays in the NCCA Knockout Trophy. Devon played List A matches occasionally from 1969 until 2005 but is not classified as a List A team 'per se'. The Western Division Two of the National Counties Championship is made up of five teams with each team playing the others in three-day fixtures throughout the season. Giles William Ecclestone (born 17 October 1968) is an English cricketer. Ecclestone is a left-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium pace. He was born in Lambeth, London. Ecclestone made his debut for Cambridgeshire in the 1989 Minor Counties Championship against Suffolk. From 1989 to 1996, he represented the county in 41 Championship matches, following those up 6 years later with his final Championship appearance for Cambridgeshire against Bedfordshire. Ecclestone played in the MCCA Knockout Trophy for Cambridgeshire, making his debut in that competition against Suffolk in 1989. From 1989 to 1997, he played 17 Trophy matches. In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. Nigel James Llong (born 11 February 1969) is an English cricket umpire and former first-class cricketer. Until June 2020, he was a member of the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and officiated in international matches - Tests, ODIs and T20Is.
